Vin Diesel is returning as the voice. I am insanely excited about this. I'm sure it's going to be great. I know this is going to be very good as dog days. What do you guys think? This week, Ryan, as I have asked people to do, emailed us and suggested a goofy movie, and it was one that we hadn't watched it fit the criteria. So that's why we're pulling this up. Ryan, could you give those people who may not have watched it since it came out in 1995? A brief synopsis of what happens and kind of why you picked that. 00;08;28;11 - 00;08;47;16 Sam Yeah. So I in in thinking about me back, having to actually talk about what it is, I looked up a synopsis online that does a really good job of it, but I don't know if I'm going to go with it because I think one of the reasons like why I picked a goofy movie is it goofy for me, growing up was one of my absolute favorite characters. 00;08;48;17 - 00;09;15;26 Sam I have really enjoyed seeing everything that he has ever been in. And the fact that Bill Farmer, who is the voice actor for Goofy, is still voicing him to this day is something I think that hits my miss, my histology bone really hard. But a goofy movie, it's it it follows Max, who is goofy son and in that in the first parts of the movie, Max is trying to get the attention of Roxann, who is the girl that he is crushing on. 00;09;16;06 - 00;09;40;14 Sam I think Max is I think he's in high school. He's like early high school. And he gets in trouble because he puts on a unsolicited power line concert for the entire student body. He gets in trouble, has to go to the principal's office like you do. Roxanne actually notices him and is really happy that he did what he did. 00;09;41;06 - 00;10;04;26 Sam Max gets in a lot of trouble. The principal tells Goofy that Max could end up in the electric chair if he doesn't do something about the way his son is behaving. So Goofy decides and talks to Pete that he needs to take Max on a cross-country fishing trip that Max does not want to go on one bit. And so they go on this fishing trip. 00;10;05;03 - 00;10;32;07 Sam Max has to tell Roxann that he won't be able to see the power line concert on power on pay per view, because Goofy is actually going to take him to the Power Line concert, which is not true. And they eventually go on their road trip. Max changes the map to take them to L.A. rather than Idaho. And there is a whole bunch of craziness in between. 00;10;32;08 - 00;10;55;13 Sam They see Bigfoot, Mickey and Donald make a cameo so there's lots of songs. They make it to the Power Line concert. Somehow they end up on stage with Power Line, and Max makes it on home, tells Roxanne that he lied to her, which is what a good thing for a high school kid to do. And then it all ends up happy days. 00;10;55;13 - 00;11;04;10 Sam So yeah, yeah, it's a great movie. I can't tell if you you know, if you guys can tell by how I talk about it. It's one of my favorites. So. Yeah. 00;11;04;13 - 00;11;05;13 Pete Oh, that's a good summary. 00;11;05;26 - 00;11;06;27 Sam Thank you. Yeah. 00;11;07;02 - 00;11;13;13 Pete And I agree with you. Like, you're lying for, you know, like three weeks. You get away with it and then you, like. 00;11;13;26 - 00;11;22;01 Derrick You still have a girlfriend. Yeah. And he acknowledges he likes the fact that you fessed up and and. Yeah. 00;11;22;12 - 00;11;34;05 Sam That's that's adult stuff right there. Yeah. No, and you look at Max is probably, you know, got to be like 15 and you go Goofy told him to do that too, which is just also very fascinating. 00;11;34;05 - 00;11;41;13 Derrick So yeah. OK, so Ryan we're going to start with you. Is this movie Goofy Greatness or just clumsy nostalgia? 00;11;42;03 - 00;12;06;28 Sam So I thought about this when I watched I watched it again last night. I've seen this movie probably six or seven times. I really like it. I don't think it's I mean, there is a element of nostalgia there for me, but there's just a lot to it that I think for one, when you you know, you guys have looked at these movies from the vault I think the jokes still hold up. 00;12;07;07 - 00;12;29;11 Sam I didn't find anything really truly offensive. And there's there's a lot to it that growing up I was very much related to with Max, although I never had a dad like Goofy. And so I think that kind of adds to the plot point of, you know, you look at Max's goofy, he's just trying to be a good dad. 00;12;29;11 - 00;12;48;06 Sam But how is, you know, somebody like Goofy going to be able to actually do that in a way that Max is going to understand and not feel embarrassed by? So, yeah, I really like it. I have a lot to say about this movie. I don't know if you want me to talk about it now or if we're going to go around or not. 00;12;48;07 - 00;12;55;04 Derrick Welcome back. Welcome back. Yeah, I'm I'm going to skip myself for right now and move on over to Kate. 00;12;55;20 - 00;12;56;04 Sam All right. 00;12;56;09 - 00;13;20;22 Kate Of course you are. Oh, no. I love this movie. I think this is one of the most under rated Disney movies. It kind of flies under the radar until you're like, you should watch a goofy movie and then you watch it and it's I. I have to go back and look and see what our questions are, because I want to know, can I say negative things now, too? 00;13;20;26 - 00;13;51;16 Kate Yes. OK, I'm the soundtrack. Not just eye to eye and power line. This this song. All of the songs are so good I love Mac School. I've always I've had a heart for Max. Give Max Goof and I were very, very good friends at the World The God. I just love this movie. And I Goofy has never been my favorite. 00;13;52;11 - 00;14;25;04 Kate I'm very partial to the Mickey Mouse, but this movie watching it again and maybe even watching it from what I lived through, in the last ten years, I fell in love with Goofy a little bit more. This movie watching it now, I, I just, I wanted to hug him over and over and I forgot from the first time I saw it, I forgot just how big of a Butthead Max is to Goofy. 00;14;26;07 - 00;14;41;17 Kate And it's like there were times where I was like, oh, I am very not OK with what's happening right now. Like, I don't like how he's treating Goofy and Goofy just takes it. One of my favorite parts is when Goofy is like. 00;14;42;01 - 00;14;45;03 Sam Go over there. I said now. 00;14;45;03 - 00;15;12;00 Kate And Max is like, Yahoo! Like, walks off. There's so many good quotable lines Roxanne is gorgeous and wonderful. Power Line is perfect, obviously, because I'm wearing the shirt, but but yeah, the only down thing I had to say was there were parts of it where I was like, Oh, man. Like, Max is really not good. To his dad. 00;15;13;11 - 00;15;24;18 Kate And you know what part broke my heart in half is when Max throws the hat out the window and they drive the possum hat and they drive away and the hat is in the rain. 00;15;26;15 - 00;15;27;14 Sam That made me fall. 00;15;27;24 - 00;15;32;16 Kate Also, when Max does, he punch the possum guy. 00;15;33;18 - 00;15;34;17 Derrick Turning it around. 00;15;35;02 - 00;15;35;28 Kate That's what it is. 00;15;38;20 - 00;15;49;12 Kate As a former friend of people who dressed up in characters, that gave me PTSD. So there's definitely a lot of lines in here that yeah, I agree. 00;16;17;17 - 00;16;24;07 Kate Wait, there's two of you there. There are you would guess that they're twins, though. No. 00;16;25;15 - 00;16;25;24 Derrick Pete. 00;16;26;03 - 00;16;52;21 Pete All right, I'm going. I have never seen this movie or even seen scenes from this movie. I was aware of the existence of Power Line from from Disney World. And I was aware of the existence of Max, but I've never seen it before. I was basically I was at completely the wrong age when it came out. I was in my mid twenties you're not watching a goofy movie in your mid twenties. 00;16;53;02 - 00;16;55;00 Sam Well, speak for yourself. 00;16;55;00 - 00;16;59;03 Kate All right? I mean, maybe last time when I was cave with. 00;16;59;05 - 00;16;59;17 Sam 20. 00;17;03;06 - 00;17;32;27 Pete So very obviously a super dated. This movie is so nineties. I couldn't believe it. But beyond that it's good. I was I was surprised it surprised me that it's actually pretty good. I don't know that I would call it great but I mean I'm separating myself from the nostalgia factor. I laughed at it at times I thought the emotion of it was, was true. 00;17;33;21 - 00;17;41;00 Pete Kate, you've never had a teenage child, but Max was not the worst teenage child. Existence by far. 00;17;41;11 - 00;17;43;08 Sam Oh, no, no, no. 00;17;43;17 - 00;17;46;13 Kate I never had a teenage child. But I've been a teenager. 00;17;46;22 - 00;17;58;18 Pete Right. Yeah, but from your perspective, you were 100% from Max's perspective, he did nothing wrong. So, you know, so I didn't I wasn't bothered by that because I fully like. 00;17;59;02 - 00;18;00;08 Derrick And he's a teenager. 00;18;00;17 - 00;18;07;20 Pete We were watching it with my 19 year old daughter, and I was thinking like, this is exactly how she would have behaved if I had insisted on this trip. 00;18;08;29 - 00;18;09;09 Sam Oh. 00;18;09;18 - 00;18;35;01 Pete So no, I agree with you. 100%, Kate. The songs worked, which really surprised me. I'd never really heard any of them before. And they were genuinely decent songs. A lot of these movies, the songs are just garbage. And, you know, there's been a few of those few those we've watched too. That like they break into song, you're like, Oh, what is this? 00;18;35;01 - 00;18;50;21 Pete And you just want to fast forward. And I, I enjoyed every bit of it. It was, was it like, you know, I'm not, we'll get to the ratings I mean, it wasn't top of the line for me, but like, yeah, this is a charming way to spend an evening with your kids, for sure. Sam, what do you think? 00;18;51;08 - 00;19;20;27 Kate Yeah, I totally agree with that analysis. So I was a teenager in the nineties, right? So when this came out 1995, I was 14 or 15 years old, depending on what month it came out, which I don't know the answer to. I think this is a great movie. It is. There's a ton of nineties nostalgia, all of the neon, the power line outfits, all of that is just like makes me feel like I'm a teenager. 00;19;20;27 - 00;19;39;05 Kate In the nineties again I will say I was not the target audience when this movie came out. The target audience was younger, right? The target audience would have been kids maybe five or ten years younger than I was when it came out, but I liked it when it came out and I still like it is, you know, some of it a little bit dated. 00;19;39;05 - 00;20;11;10 Kate Yeah, but the real beauty of this movie is that it's real. I know that sounds crazy, right? This is an animated film, but the relationships and what kind of happens between Goofy and Max is totally relatable. You can picture a real teenager acting exactly the way that Max does, embarrassed in the exact same way that Max is of his father and how goofy in parts is completely oblivious to this embarrassment. 00;20;11;10 - 00;20;34;22 Kate And then other times becomes obviously keenly aware of Max's embarrassment later on in the movie. So I thought, I think this is a great movie. I love that you picked this, Ryan. I think it's perfect. You know, we're just a little bit ahead of Father's Day, so it's kind of perfect timing for this movie as well. In showing that father, son or parent child relationship. 00;20;34;26 - 00;20;43;20 Kate It's a it's a it's a nostalgia burst bubble, but it's a wonderful one, not a clumsy one, in my opinion. 00;20;45;21 - 00;20;47;29 Derrick OK, know. 00;20;48;15 - 00;20;51;16 Sam This is funny. 00;20;51;16 - 00;21;04;02 Kate Because Derek and I are the exact same age, so it's it's always funny to see when we I feel like if if if there's something that is sort of generational or targeted to a particular age group, it's always funny when we have a different opinion of it. 00;21;04;02 - 00;21;15;05 Derrick I don't this was fine. I have no issues with people liking it at all. I know if I were to watch it again, I'll be on my phone. 95% of the time. 00;21;17;18 - 00;21;43;01 Derrick Were there moments of memorability? Yes. You've got the perfect cast. You've got power line my personal favorite and the one I remembered the most. I will say this is the first time I probably sat and watched this all the way through. I, I would, you know, you're flipping past the channels and when in the late nineties it was on Disney Channel all the time, you would stop and see little clips. 00;21;43;12 - 00;22;08;27 Derrick And the one I remembered was the big foot with the Walkman was just that was the one clip I remembered going forward. But as I've said before, funny moments do not a good movie make. I have heard this to be called along the lines of Kate, the unheralded kid classic of the Disney Animation Renaissance. 00;22;09;06 - 00;22;10;04 Kate I would agree with that. 00;22;10;08 - 00;22;17;12 Derrick Nope. Sorry, it's not even in the Top End. I made a movie in 1995 well, no. Wow. Now my thought is I will tell you this one is better than Pocahontas. To me. That's better. Paula what other Disney animated movie from that period would you put this ahead of and why are you wrong. 00;22;43;29 - 00;22;56;24 Kate No I honestly I wouldn't but, but because this was, that was the golden age right. Yeah. So this was a good movie, this one. Do I think that this is a top five Disney movie in general? No, no. 00;22;56;25 - 00;22;59;07 Derrick But it wasn't top five from those five years. 00;22;59;19 - 00;23;08;12 Kate But this is a fun, enjoyable movie to watch. So it's more kind of like a Spiderman cast level where all of the characters are going to be younger. And so I feel like this will be interesting to see how the sort of the next generation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seeing sort of how that develops. I also really like that. I also like that it's another fan becoming a superhero, but not just that the character is a fan. 00;58;23;16 - 00;58;45;19 Kate I actually really like that the actress they cast for the role, which was highlighted in that preview that we watch, is She Was a Avenger fan and a Miss Marvel fan. Keith, what about you? So I'm going to be really, really honest. I did watch this trailer I have very, very purposefully been avoiding anything. Marvel Post where I am in my journey through the Marvel Universe with shows and movies. I'm currently right in the middle of The Punisher, which I am not a fan of. 01;00;03;00 - 01;00;47;01 Kate So while I watched this, I kind of tried to watch it almost like this, like not because it's not going to give any sort of spoilers. I know what happens in Marvel, but the things that I haven't seen, I am trying to not absorb a lot of. So I only kind of half paid attention on purpose to this what I did catch though, first of all, perfect casting, their casting of Miss Marvel is she that actress is phenomenal for nominal and what I caught when they said, are you the flash? 01;00;47;01 - 01;01;15;22 Kate I laughed out loud because I'm a huge Flash fan. The Flash is one of my favorite DC TV shows. So up there with Arrow. But I'm trying to like give as much surprise to myself as I can if that makes if what I'm saying makes any sense I am excited for it.
