00;01;49;29 - 00;01;51;06
Speaker 3
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00;01;52;08 - 00;02;18;04
Speaker 4
I'm doing good. I'm just greeting you. No, I'm doing good. It's good to be back. I was off last week, so it's been a lot of traveling by the tunas. This the last couple of weeks. I think Gina's still traveling, actually, so. And Derek's still traveling, too, right? You're not at home. You're in California, right?
00;02;19;13 - 00;02;34;00
Speaker 2
Yeah, I'm here in a hotel in California. Which guys? That means if I phrase. That's why I'm on the hotel wi fi. Not good luck. Give me a minute. I will be back next. We have actually got Steve joining us this evening.
00;02;34;26 - 00;02;35;29
Speaker 3
Hi, everyone.
00;02;37;04 - 00;02;37;29
Speaker 2
How are you doing today?
00;02;38;26 - 00;02;47;26
Speaker 5
I'm good. It's my first day of vacation, so I just finished my 25th year in education. Wow.
00;02;47;27 - 00;02;49;17
Speaker 4
Yeah. Graduations.
00;02;51;24 - 00;02;53;09
Speaker 2
Now, when do you go back?
00;02;54;01 - 00;02;57;20
Speaker 5
I go back August 20 seconds, so.
00;02;57;23 - 00;03;05;14
Speaker 2
Okay. And a wow. That seems a lot. Seems like a long school year.
00;03;07;05 - 00;03;10;04
Speaker 5
It is. We have a lot of built in Snowden.
00;03;10;04 - 00;03;23;01
Speaker 2
We have. Okay. Makes sense. And last but certainly not least, tonight, we've got Sam. Sam, how are you doing this evening?
00;03;23;24 - 00;03;44;05
Speaker 6
I spilled wasabi on myself. What you guys, I'm doing great. Just don't start calling me wasabi. I'm awesome. I'm happy to be here. I'm really excited to talk about Big Hero six and I'm happy that Steve is with us to.
00;03;44;05 - 00;04;13;27
Speaker 2
Yeah, definitely. We've got Nick with us as Hey nerds, it's summer. Yes, first day of summer. Today, Ryan says it's time to talk about one of his failed event animated movies. Awesome Desus. Nice touch, Pete. Yeah, with the fist, Jen says Hi everyone. And Steve. Yeah, yeah. I think Jen's agreeing with me. That is too long of a school year.
00;04;13;27 - 00;04;23;27
Speaker 2
So. All right. Now, sadly, we don't with us tonight. But Sam, we do have some Disney plus news. What do we got this week?
00;04;25;07 - 00;04;54;06
Speaker 6
It's time for Disney Plus News. Well, you guys, Disney announced that monsters at work will be getting a season two in 2023. This is an animated series we all really like. Super funny. And of course, it's a it's a not a prequel. A sequel to Monsters Monsters Inc Monsters University series. So, yeah, it's great. And then we also have Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness Tomorrow all coming out on Disney.
00;04;54;06 - 00;05;06;11
Speaker 6
Plus, we'll be reviewing that at a later date because we have a lot of upcoming releases in the next couple of weeks, but it'll be coming soon. So just you wait for the multiverse of madness. Yeah, that's.
00;05;06;11 - 00;05;07;06
Speaker 3
It. It's a.
00;05;07;06 - 00;05;07;27
Speaker 6
Short list.
00;05;08;29 - 00;05;17;05
Speaker 2
It is a short list. I would probably say motivation, madness and middle of July sometime, honestly, before we'll be able to get around to it.
00;05;17;05 - 00;05;27;18
Speaker 6
So and hopefully I will be on the Disney wish at that time. God willing, the distinguished will be sailing and I will be on it.
00;05;28;11 - 00;05;58;21
Speaker 2
Yeah, that'd be great. Well, as we have, as you might have been able to tell, we are going to be doing Big Hero six this week. There is a new Baymax series that is coming out in two weeks, I believe. And so guys, I had never seen this movie and it came out right in The Gap. There were a couple of movies right in there that I missed, like Frozen.
00;05;58;21 - 00;06;22;01
Speaker 2
Oh, I know. Well, I didn't see Frozen in theaters either, thank goodness. I mean, there was I said literally there was a strike. Okay. I'd say Brother Bear, but didn't miss much. There. So but there was a stretch of it. So this was my first time seeing it. Pete, can you kind of give us a rundown for those of you who may have seen it before?
00;06;22;01 - 00;06;28;08
Speaker 2
But it's been many, many years. You can't give us a rundown on a basic set of the story.
00;06;29;05 - 00;06;54;17
Speaker 4
Yeah, it's a story of a young teenager named Hero who's, like, super genius. And he builds robots for bot fighting set in like this fictional city called San Fran Tokyo. And his brother kind of like, drags him away from that and and gets them involved with his college that he's at and his group of friends that are all science nerds.
00;06;55;10 - 00;07;19;29
Speaker 4
So he develops this micro bot that can work that like thousands of them can work together and he gets into the program. But at the same time he gets into the program. There's a big fire in the lab. His brother ends up running in to try to save the the the main professor and his brother gets killed. And so the story ends up coming out of that event.
00;07;20;14 - 00;07;43;10
Speaker 4
He finds out that he thinks his bots were all destroyed, but one of them is still left and is trying to communicate with the other ones. And he makes friends with. I guess the important thing and talk about is Baymax, which is the soft robot that his brother invented and he kind of connects to his brother through Baymax.
00;07;43;10 - 00;08;08;01
Speaker 4
And that's the main gist of the story is hero's relationship with Baymax, the other characters that he that he met from the lab also come into the story to make up a superhero team. And so he creates, you know, he makes all these costumes or whatever for them, and they end up going after the person that ended up causing the fire and leading to his brother's death.
00;08;08;01 - 00;08;16;09
Speaker 4
So I think that's probably a spoiler list version of it, even though, you know, we'll we'll probably get a little bit more talk about it.
00;08;16;09 - 00;08;17;02
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah.
00;08;17;17 - 00;08;32;16
Speaker 4
Yeah. But so it's but it's really at its heart, it's about him and this robot, really, and how he recovers from the death of his brother sort of. And of course, he's an orphan. They're both orphans, you know, because it's a Disney movie.
00;08;32;22 - 00;08;33;22
Speaker 3
Right. So they live.
00;08;33;22 - 00;08;36;25
Speaker 6
With they live with the with the young and. Yeah, yeah.
00;08;37;07 - 00;08;39;24
Speaker 3
Yeah. So yeah.
00;08;39;24 - 00;08;42;26
Speaker 4
But I think that sums it up because anything I missed.
00;08;43;09 - 00;09;02;11
Speaker 6
That's a good summary. Part of it is figuring out who the villain is. That's part, part of the storyline involves who. Yeah. Actually the villain. And how did the villain become the villain? So his sort of origin story is part of the story as well. But I think the relationship between Hero and and Baymax is probably the most important part of the movie.
00;09;02;11 - 00;09;05;08
Speaker 6
And then the relationship with the rest of the hero team.
00;09;05;22 - 00;09;06;00
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00;09;06;18 - 00;09;25;02
Speaker 4
Yeah. And I would say maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. But to me, one of the maybe weaknesses of the movie is that the other characters besides Hero and Baymax are pretty thin. You know, they each have their they each have their science power, so to speak.
00;09;25;07 - 00;09;25;24
Speaker 6
Except for.
00;09;26;19 - 00;09;27;03
Speaker 2
Most.
00;09;27;03 - 00;09;31;29
Speaker 6
I think I think Fred actually is a pretty is a deeper character than the others.
00;09;32;00 - 00;09;34;02
Speaker 4
A little more developed than the other three. Yeah.
00;09;34;03 - 00;09;36;14
Speaker 3
But yeah.
00;09;38;10 - 00;09;39;15
Speaker 2
Deep teaser.
00;09;39;15 - 00;09;40;01
Speaker 6
Muted.
00;09;40;13 - 00;09;53;22
Speaker 2
Steve you are still muted this is you watch Bigelow's 6/1 night on the Disney dream spent a lot of night nights in that movie theater. Nick says Microbots look like middle schoolers who team up on you and destroy everything you.
00;09;54;08 - 00;09;54;16
Speaker 6
Make.
00;09;54;22 - 00;09;55;25
Speaker 2
Especially if it's food.
00;09;57;00 - 00;09;57;08
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00;09;57;21 - 00;10;02;23
Speaker 5
No, I was saying Fred has a ability. He could spend science.
00;10;03;16 - 00;10;10;02
Speaker 4
Yeah, that's true. And much like that, I mean, he's rich.
00;10;10;26 - 00;10;13;05
Speaker 3
Right? Yes.
00;10;13;05 - 00;10;15;07
Speaker 6
The science and seriousness, he says.
00;10;15;20 - 00;10;18;21
Speaker 2
Yeah. And mysterious missing parents, so. Right.
00;10;19;02 - 00;10;19;13
Speaker 4
Right.
00;10;19;26 - 00;10;29;03
Speaker 2
Okay, guys. Now this is, believe it or not, and it was advertised this way in some of the early advertising. This is a marvel movie.
00;10;29;21 - 00;10;31;07
Speaker 3
Um hmm.
00;10;31;07 - 00;10;40;20
Speaker 2
And I kind of want to go through and each one, what helps set it apart from other marvels, we're going to talk whether it's really.
00;10;41;14 - 00;10;41;24
Speaker 3
These.
00;10;41;29 - 00;10;53;17
Speaker 2
Should be seen as a marvel movie or not. But let's talk a little bit to start about kind of what sets it apart. And Steve, I want to start with you. This is an animated show.
00;10;54;24 - 00;11;14;19
Speaker 5
I'd say that's the obvious choice because this came out before. What if let's when you're asking me what I thought about, it's the first Marvel animated movie, I guess. And I was surprised learning last week on the show that it was a marvel movie that sort of surprised me because I see it more as definitely a Disney movie.
00;11;15;00 - 00;11;26;06
Speaker 5
You know, we talked about the death of a loved one, the loss of the significant character, which makes me think of bang, bang, like from the inside out. All right.
00;11;27;18 - 00;11;28;04
Speaker 6
Bang, bang.
00;11;28;07 - 00;11;33;25
Speaker 5
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Yes. Yeah. There's some are the following, the following.
00;11;33;25 - 00;11;55;28
Speaker 6
That's very sad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I, I think you're right. I think the animated. But I also think the other part, another issue is it's not right. It's not connected to anything else. Right? So we talk about the MCU, too, so much on this show because we have all these different shows and movies that we've been talking about watching.
00;11;56;18 - 00;12;00;29
Speaker 6
Most of them are connected in. I know too much for Derek's liking.
00;12;01;09 - 00;12;02;06
Speaker 3
The most and how.
00;12;02;08 - 00;12;03;09
Speaker 2
Much marvel.
00;12;04;12 - 00;12;32;10
Speaker 6
Most of them have some connection to each other, or they're setting up a future connection, right? So Wandavision obviously was kind of the characters were connected to prior movies, but it was a news story, but now it's being connected to as I even though I haven't seen it yet, the new Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, but pretty much every marvel movie or show seems to be connected in some way.
00;12;32;10 - 00;13;05;22
Speaker 6
Except we don't know if Moon Night is going to be connected. Right? So this is not connected. It's not part of the MCU, even though it's Marvel, it never had any connection to the MCU. And I don't think it's going to have any connection to the MCU. Probably the primarily because it is done in an animated series and does an animated movie and now is animated series, is if that's the word, Derek, what else can you think of that sets it apart?
00;13;05;22 - 00;13;33;14
Speaker 2
Well, I would say one big thing for me is it's a young, completely mortal protagonist. He has even he's not like Peter Parker. That got bit by the radioactive spider. He's not there's nothing about him other than the fact that he is a science nerd. And so you do not see a young guy with a high school at 14, which tells me he's 15 or 16 somewhere probably in this movie.
00;13;33;14 - 00;14;22;11
Speaker 2
So to me, that's one thing that you don't see a lot of movies. You've got people except really from just about Hawkeye. Everybody else has some kind of powers for the most part. I will say, going back to your animation comment, Steve, this animation reminds me so much. The characters look like the people in Tangled in Frozen. They all of them kind of had that, but especially Tangled, the the narrower chins wasn't anything back then for some of the Disney animation all still kind of looked like Mrs. Incredible but looked a little bit like Elastigirl all have that basic same hedge ape, I think.
00;14;22;23 - 00;14;33;19
Speaker 2
And that's one thing that I was as I was watching it this afternoon that I really noticed. It looks like this could be in the same universe obviously many years later, but in the same universe as tangled.
00;14;34;29 - 00;14;40;04
Speaker 6
But in that but in that vein, it also has a little bit of animated planet, right? There's one.
00;14;41;22 - 00;14;42;14
Speaker 5
Definitely. Yeah.
00;14;42;23 - 00;14;55;25
Speaker 6
Even though I agree the head shapes are similar to Tangled, but there's much more anime and Japanese influence in the way that this is animated than other things. Yeah. Sorry. Did you have.
00;14;56;07 - 00;14;57;26
Speaker 3
Any. So the voice.
00;14;58;05 - 00;15;26;25
Speaker 4
Yeah. The only thing I wanted to add was I think of I mean we had a few Marvel properties that were pretty obscure. I'll put Moonlight in that group, but really this is like as obscure a marvel property. I mean, like, even now, eight years later or whatever it is, I still know nothing outside of the the movie and I guess the TV show about the comics on Big Hero six.
00;15;26;25 - 00;15;48;22
Speaker 4
And from what I understand, they they took the characters, but they really didn't really pay attention to the story at all. So it's very different from the comic, from what I understand, but I don't know anything about the comics. So I'd say, you know, even though some of the Marvel characters are not super, super famous, they're at least, you know, generally relatively.
00;15;48;22 - 00;16;08;06
Speaker 4
I mean, you know, even characters like, you know, The Hulk and I mean Iron Man, Captain America, people know those characters. But Big Hero six, it's like, huh? Right. So I think that made it. And as we said, you know, last week we were saying, oh, is this a marvel movie? And I kept I was typing. I remember saying, it's a marvel movie.
00;16;08;14 - 00;16;20;07
Speaker 4
And you guys were all weren't sure. It's not really obviously a marvel movie when you watch it, it doesn't doesn't feel like it because it doesn't have all those things we just talked about, you know.
00;16;21;10 - 00;16;33;09
Speaker 2
And I don't know, do they ever actually say it's a marvel movie? Is it ever. I can't remember. I do remember watching the initial titles. It was ever in.
00;16;33;09 - 00;16;35;11
Speaker 5
I think someone mentioned last week in the.
00;16;35;11 - 00;16;36;19
Speaker 2
Credits that it went.
00;16;36;19 - 00;16;39;02
Speaker 3
Yeah, I think it dropped.
00;16;39;02 - 00;16;42;06
Speaker 4
It in the credits. They do. And then there's a post-credits scene with Stan Lee.
00;16;42;06 - 00;16;46;04
Speaker 2
I don't know if it was Stan Lee. To me, that's the biggest thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00;16;46;06 - 00;16;46;20
Speaker 3
So.
00;16;47;02 - 00;17;25;27
Speaker 2
Yeah. Jennifer agrees. The characters did have so much potential. They really did. Jennifer the I wish they had gone beyond just the stereotypes of those different characters and had actually developed them just a little bit deeper. The development, only development I saw and really wasn't development as much as a moral backbone is in them to hero, to not kill the professor right.
00;17;25;27 - 00;17;44;24
Speaker 2
As I didn't quite catch this and Sam, you've many more times than I have was Baymax prevent the chip from being released or when the GAO put it back in, did she do something to keep it from being really eat? The one that stopped.
00;17;47;02 - 00;17;47;13
Speaker 3
The one.
00;17;47;13 - 00;17;53;15
Speaker 4
From hurting? I think when he was trying to take it out, I think it was Baymax that was preventing it.
00;17;53;23 - 00;17;55;24
Speaker 6
I think so too. After, I think.
00;17;55;25 - 00;18;16;17
Speaker 4
Okay, because because Baymax because of the green chip says caused no harm. And knowing what he had done before by pulling out the green chip, I think, you know, Baymax was trying was basically stopping that from happening to prevent harm. So to speak. So.
00;18;17;06 - 00;18;18;14
Speaker 6
Right. It's part of his mission.
00;18;19;06 - 00;18;32;16
Speaker 5
And in speaking that ship, I was reading that in Iron Man there is and maybe an Easter egg. Tony, Tony! Tony Stark picks up a chip that says Tadashi.
00;18;32;16 - 00;18;33;17
Speaker 3
How cool.
00;18;34;07 - 00;18;34;28
Speaker 6
I love that.
00;18;35;25 - 00;18;56;06
Speaker 2
Okay. Yeah. And then for also Grizz things they were trying to animate it with some anime definitely get those although okay did it look like Hero could have played Megaman in the v video games? That was some of that.
00;18;57;01 - 00;18;59;05
Speaker 6
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, man.
00;18;59;17 - 00;19;00;09
Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah.
00;19;01;14 - 00;19;05;11
Speaker 2
And then I Nix's Baymax is an adorable Rubin ask Iron.
00;19;05;12 - 00;19;16;02
Speaker 6
Especially when they put his armor on him. Oh, my God. I wonder. He's in his red armor. It's like one. It's so. It's such a good. I love that. I love that visualization.
00;19;16;11 - 00;19;16;19
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00;19;16;24 - 00;19;17;15
Speaker 6
Love it, Nick.
00;19;17;28 - 00;19;30;09
Speaker 5
Yeah, yeah. I had a moment where I thought Power Rangers because all their characters have different colored suits and they are like running towards the action. Yes. Power Rangers goes.
00;19;31;06 - 00;19;32;22
Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00;19;33;03 - 00;19;50;18
Speaker 4
Well, there was definitely the other thing I noticed at one point is Hiro had a Voltron shirt. He had a shirt with the the Voltron robot. So it's definitely in an in there's definitely influences there from Japanese cartoons and anime.
00;19;52;02 - 00;20;10;22
Speaker 2
And Sam, you kind of brought up this one. Speaking of posing, we saw several instances of the Marvel pose in this. But Pete, I'm going to start with you on this one. Do you consider this truly a marvel movie?
00;20;10;22 - 00;20;37;08
Speaker 4
I think it I think it has a lot of the hallmarks of a marvel movie, though, as well, because it has the creation of a superhero team. You know, it has a somewhat mentioned Iron Man. Nick mentioned Iron Man for Baymax. It kind of reminds me of like Team Iron Man or something like that, because Stark was also a, you know, a super genius that invented things just like this kid.
00;20;37;22 - 00;20;58;24
Speaker 4
And, you know, he puts he basically puts the team together. He somehow this is this is one thing I don't completely get is like, you know, even before they find out, Fred is, as you know, rich in everything, he's like putting all these robots together and all this armor and everything like that. It's like, where does this kid get this money to do all these things?
00;20;59;29 - 00;21;23;17
Speaker 4
I guess. I guess robot fighting. But yeah, he, you know, I think I think from that respect and then, you know, they put the team together. They're a bunch of superheroes goes in again. It kind of it kind of has a bit of an Iron Man for kids feel to me. So I think that I think that it feels marvel to me.
00;21;23;18 - 00;21;24;13
Speaker 4
What do you think, Steve?
00;21;25;10 - 00;21;42;16
Speaker 5
I would say 25% Marvel. 75% Disney. Yeah, like because I like I said earlier, I was surprised that it was a connected to Marvel moment that last week. So I'm still saying 75% Disney, 25% Marvel. What do you think, Sam?
00;21;43;22 - 00;22;14;27
Speaker 6
So I'm going to flip the flip the script on is Steve I'm going to go with 75% Marvel and 25% like Walt Disney slash Pixar. Right. So this is because it has a lot of the it's not a Pixar movie, I don't think, but it has one of the hallmarks of Pixar. But Pixar they got. Yeah, so but to me, it's got this, you know, obviously it's got the superhero team, but it's also got a complicated hero, not just hero, but the hero is a complicated hero.
00;22;16;14 - 00;22;43;02
Speaker 6
And and we have this interpersonal relationship with Baymax and we have hero kind of growing up. And I feel like we we've seen this well similar stories of growth in heroes before we also have a complicated villain. Right. We have the professor who while is certainly a villain and and of course you know is the reason why Heroes brother is dead.
00;22;43;02 - 00;23;10;20
Speaker 6
It wasn't an intentional you didn't try to kill heroes brother and his reason for becoming a villain or his reason for stealing the technology is because he wants to save his, you know, his daughter. Ah. So I do think there is, you know, we've got a villain who's who's we? His origin story reminds me of a lot of villains we get for complicated characters who are not all bad, not all good.
00;23;11;00 - 00;23;30;02
Speaker 6
And I kind of love that about a lot of marvel at this. Of course, we have some more Marvel, you know, villains who are truly evil, but we have somebody like Loki, right. Who's not all bad, not all good, and in some ways, but becomes a hero too. So, yeah, I think it's I actually think it's a little more marvel when I really think about it.
00;23;30;02 - 00;23;46;17
Speaker 6
I'll be honest. My initial instinct was, no, this is not a marvel movie, right? But then when you really think about all the elements of a marvel movie and you've got big fight scenes and and all that stuff and you have comedy, right? We have. Baymax is hilarious. I am not that, you know. Are you satisfied with your care?
00;23;46;17 - 00;24;07;20
Speaker 6
I feel like I can't I can't turn off until I hear that you're satisfied with your care. He when you correct hero about no you don't have a you will have an allergy to whatever it is that's the truth and you're allergic to peanuts or whatever it is that he's you know, it's just like real, you know, lots of humor.
00;24;07;20 - 00;24;24;01
Speaker 6
We have a lot of that kind of stuff in Avengers and in a lot of the other Marvel movies. So yeah, I, I, yeah, I think 75% Marvel and 25% Disney animated film. So yeah, it's a different medium completely because it's animated, but it's not. It's a lot of marvel.
00;24;24;29 - 00;24;28;15
Speaker 3
Derek. Derek.
00;24;28;15 - 00;25;06;11
Speaker 2
To me, this reminded me more of The Incredibles than it did of a marvel movie. Again, the. Yeah, but yes, they're not actually superpowers, but they could have been syndrome. Counter egos are right as far as the people that use it to, you know, corrupt everybody type of thing. I'm does it have its marvel elements? Yes. I mean, obviously, we want to hit that.
00;25;06;11 - 00;25;29;13
Speaker 2
But the Marvel pose, yes, there are parental units that, you know, are nonexistent or don't work. The connection, Nick says that retrieval of the daughter remind me of Anthony, though this came out literally six months before Ant-Man. So this this.
00;25;29;13 - 00;25;29;20
Speaker 3
Was.
00;25;30;10 - 00;26;00;18
Speaker 2
Released 14. So it would have split Guardians of the Galaxy and Age of Ultron. No. So which was right before, which is also right before Ant-Man. So this would have slotted into what was known as phase two and I definitely agree with Nick's coming here feels like it was meant to have a sequel where more team character development would happen.
00;26;00;19 - 00;26;10;24
Speaker 2
And I completely agree. I think he'd been more financially successful. Successful there, probably whatever, especially with the end credits scene where Stanley comes.
00;26;12;03 - 00;26;21;09
Speaker 4
Sam was successful. No, it made like $60 million. It was not it was not a flop, that's for sure.
00;26;21;09 - 00;26;39;04
Speaker 2
Yeah, I but I don't, I think they got so hung up on the pictures that these kind of guys kind of fell by the wayside to the detriment of these guys. I would I would have loved to have seen a to now.
00;26;39;05 - 00;26;39;24
Speaker 6
Yeah, me too.
00;26;39;28 - 00;26;45;21
Speaker 2
Have any of the three of you watched this, the series at all?
00;26;46;16 - 00;26;47;04
Speaker 5
No, I.
00;26;47;04 - 00;26;54;02
Speaker 4
Haven't. No. I mean and obviously that's the way they end with it, right?
00;26;54;02 - 00;27;24;13
Speaker 2
Yeah. There were at least two seasons of a series. I think it was a Big Hero six series. And there were several that are shorts. Now we're going to have a what I'm guessing is somewhere along the lines of I'm guessing somewhere along the lines of Doug Day shorts is kind of how I'm seeing this coming across rather than full length shorts, at least I kind of hope that's what it is because that's going to keep it focused.
00;27;24;13 - 00;27;26;18
Speaker 2
That's going to keep it funny to me. Yeah.
00;27;27;12 - 00;27;51;08
Speaker 6
I watched I watched a little bit of the I was a little bit of the TV series and it was good. And I do think there there's a cult following for this movie. It did really well over in Asia. I mean, there is a ride, there is a Baymax ride, like the aliens whirling saucers and mater's cows or whatever.
00;27;51;08 - 00;28;08;03
Speaker 6
It's basically that same ride vehicle. But it's but it's Baymax sitting in this little like red car. I actually have a popcorn bucket. I've never been to Disneyland, Tokyo or Tokyo Disney, see, or whatever. But I do. I didn't get a popcorn bucket off of eBay. This is.
00;28;11;26 - 00;28;17;17
Speaker 2
Okay. And guys, that brings us to.
00;28;18;05 - 00;28;18;16
Speaker 3
Our.
00;28;22;24 - 00;28;31;03
Speaker 2
Section. What? And we're just going to keep going around. Pete, what other observations do you have about this, about?
00;28;31;03 - 00;29;04;19
Speaker 4
Well, in the end, I mean, I agree. I think it fits well in with the Disney model. So I guess I guess I lean more a little more towards what Steve said. Does it it's probably leads a little more towards Disney because it it feels to me more like a Disney movie than a than a marvel movie in that, again, it focused mostly on the relationship between Hero and Baymax and trying to hero try and recover from the death of his brother and everything like that, which is a very Disney plot.
00;29;04;19 - 00;29;27;29
Speaker 4
Right. To have somebody die and then have the character have to recover from that. So, you know, I, I think I that's my biggest comment would be that I think it fits in well with the era that it is. I think it's, you know, more of an action adventure type movie than than a lot of Disney movies are, which, you know, we we know there's obviously a lot of musicals.
00;29;28;10 - 00;29;51;28
Speaker 4
We're coming out around this time as well. But I think I think it fits with, you know, something like Wreck-It Ralph or something like that. It kind of slots into that same type of movie and, you know, I think it's I think it's a fun one. It's I don't think it's you know, I don't think it's like high up on the list of Disney movies, but it's not it's certainly it certainly isn't a isn't a flop, that's for sure, in terms of entertainment value.
00;29;52;14 - 00;29;54;25
Speaker 4
So what do you think?
00;29;56;16 - 00;30;05;13
Speaker 5
I'm curious. I have not seen Atlantis, but how does it compare to like Atlantis? Because I'm trying to think of timelines of movies and stuff because I'm.
00;30;05;13 - 00;30;06;01
Speaker 3
Thinking.
00;30;06;18 - 00;30;08;01
Speaker 4
It's I think it's better than Atlantis.
00;30;11;25 - 00;30;19;29
Speaker 5
Because I haven't seen Atlantis, but I'm trying to think of that style movies. It seems like Disney was trying to take their movies sort of like a different direction to try to test things out.
00;30;21;08 - 00;30;27;23
Speaker 2
And that was 2001. Atlantis was 2001. So it was quite a ways before this.
00;30;28;03 - 00;30;28;24
Speaker 3
Yeah. Okay.
00;30;30;09 - 00;30;46;19
Speaker 5
I'm I enjoyed it. I like I said, I haven't I it in a first came out in theaters and this today was the first time I saw it again and I enjoyed it. I think it holds up really well. Very entertaining movie. I didn't find myself turning away looking at my phone like some other movies I've watched. I rewatched.
00;30;46;19 - 00;30;48;02
Speaker 5
Yeah. Sam, what do you think?
00;30;49;02 - 00;31;14;15
Speaker 6
I love this movie. I think it's hilarious. I think it's heartwarming. I think the target audience for for this movie was probably is, you know, as kids, but mostly more boy oriented movie than girl oriented. Not to say that girls can't love it. I love that, obviously. But I definitely think there are you know, there are movies that that are targeted towards girls like Frozen, for example.
00;31;14;15 - 00;31;40;17
Speaker 6
Right. With two main girl characters, that sort of thing. And then there's movies like this that are more, you know, with male, young male lead characters and superhero themes and adventure themes that are trying to target a more younger boy audience. I think it does it really well. I was surprised, like all of you, that they didn't make a feature film sequel.
00;31;40;17 - 00;31;59;18
Speaker 6
I think it would have done very well. I don't I think the problem sometimes with Disney is that if the movie isn't like a frozen level or on level hit, then it's a disappointment to them where they think of it as a flop. But I agree with Peter. This wasn't a flop. This was very successful. It wasn't frozen level.
00;31;59;18 - 00;32;22;16
Speaker 6
Remo on a level weren't even in concept level accessible, but it was a very successful movie, very well done, good characters. I agree we could have used more character development of the rest of the superhero team, but because the focus is on Baymax and Hiro and even Tadashi before he dies, you do get really good character development of those characters.
00;32;23;01 - 00;32;45;08
Speaker 6
There is more I will say. There is more character development of the other characters in the TV series. But the TV series was short lived then. Obviously, unless you're like a hardcore or Big Hero six fan, you probably didn't watch it because it was not a it wasn't a Disney Plus series, it was just a Disney Channel series.
00;32;45;08 - 00;33;01;24
Speaker 6
And so that sort of gives you an idea of what the quality was. But yeah, I love this movie. I have, I have. It's funny to me that Derek just watched it for the first time and Steve just watch it for the second time and Pete just watched it for the third time. I can't count how many times I've seen this movie.
00;33;01;24 - 00;33;14;27
Speaker 6
It's definitely more than ten. This is one of my husband's favorite movies. And so it's something we we watch a lot. So I've been talking too long. Derek, you're checking your watch, but I'll pass, you know.
00;33;14;27 - 00;33;19;26
Speaker 2
I know. I was like, No, sorry. I got a message from another. Another place. Sorry.
00;33;21;29 - 00;33;22;28
Speaker 6
I'm just messing with.
00;33;22;28 - 00;33;52;26
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah. And it's interesting that we bring up Frozen as this, you know, beacon of great Disney animation from the time it was supposed to go direct to video. So this was the 20 it was the 2013 release. This was the 2014 Thanksgiving release of Disney. This came out I give you guys a feel inside out, came out the next spring and summer.
00;33;54;02 - 00;34;00;26
Speaker 2
This is planes, fire and rescue was in this neighborhood and.
00;34;01;00 - 00;34;11;08
Speaker 4
Yeah the next so there we were in the was was actually utopia the next day which.
00;34;11;08 - 00;34;12;16
Speaker 6
I also love by the.
00;34;12;16 - 00;34;16;12
Speaker 3
Way. Yeah. Well, yeah, but both, you know, frozen.
00;34;16;18 - 00;34;22;22
Speaker 4
Both frozen and Zootopia made over $1,000,000,000. So relatively big hero six did not.
00;34;22;22 - 00;34;24;00
Speaker 2
Do and this was only 600.
00;34;25;06 - 00;34;26;01
Speaker 4
And 66.
00;34;26;01 - 00;34;44;07
Speaker 6
So like it, like I said, I feel like if you if you don't do $1,000,000,000 and you're a Disney movie, right, like they think you're a flop even though you're like, you know, you could do really, really well as compared to some, you know, DreamWorks movie or some other animated movie. And you're still not considered a hit.
00;34;44;07 - 00;34;52;09
Speaker 5
For a night and not even a straight to DVD like sequel so they must have been really disappointed.
00;34;52;15 - 00;34;53;16
Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah.
00;34;54;04 - 00;35;19;27
Speaker 2
When they come to see how they think, light year ends up doing so it did not do that well this last weekend. So. All right. As we always do with our movies, we're going to rate it out of our Five Cups of Pixie Dust. And Steve, as our guest, I'm going to let you start. How many pickups, pixie dust and a five.
00;35;21;13 - 00;35;37;18
Speaker 5
I've gone back and forth since I watched it a couple of hours ago. I'm going to go with three and a half, mainly because I enjoyed it. I could see myself watching it again in the future, very enjoyable. So I'm going to go with three and a half. Sam, what do you think.
00;35;38;05 - 00;36;06;05
Speaker 6
You know, it's so funny, Steve, because you and I are simpatico. I'm good with three and a half. Two. It's a great rewatchable movie, but it's not my one of my like top, you know, two or three. I actually it's funny, Baymax is one of my favorite characters and I love certain parts of this movie and I rewatch it a lot, but it wouldn't I wouldn't put it in like my top, you know, I don't know, in Animated wouldn't be in the top three or, you know, movies.
00;36;06;05 - 00;36;08;06
Speaker 6
So that's why I got to give it a three and a half.
00;36;08;13 - 00;36;31;09
Speaker 2
Derek I'm going to go a three with the stipulation that I think if I would watch it a couple more times, it will either go up or go down. It would not stay a three. I think it's I think I think it's either going to be one of those. It goes to the three and a half area or yeah, it just kind of gets old.
00;36;31;15 - 00;36;39;13
Speaker 2
And I will be honest, I'm leaning towards it, probably going up, but it's just not that hard, but it's just not there yet for me. So it's a three, I think.
00;36;39;13 - 00;36;47;10
Speaker 6
It goes up. I think it goes up because you catch little, little one liners more in the second and third and fourth and whatever time you watch it.
00;36;48;10 - 00;37;09;02
Speaker 4
Yeah, well I'm on I'm going to be I mean give it a three so I'm not quite as high as you guys. But I think for me again, because it's it's such a plot driven movie versus versus character driven movie, you know, there's a lot of characters in the movie, but a lot of them don't get much development.
00;37;09;11 - 00;37;24;26
Speaker 4
It's very entertaining, but it's it's really not one I go back to a lot. And so, you know, I would recommend it to people, but it's not like something that I see. It's on. I'm going to go, Oh yeah, because so that's why to me it hits about a three.
00;37;26;10 - 00;37;52;03
Speaker 2
But I will also say that I it was it ran an hour, 40 minutes and like the last ten of that is credits. So it's fit that Disney animated formula of an hour and a half movie which made it work it did not get to you I think if you'd gone into way more the character development that Marvel likes to do, you're talking a 2 to 2 and a half an hour animated movie, which does not work.
00;37;52;03 - 00;37;53;02
Speaker 2
Yeah. So I.
00;37;53;04 - 00;37;57;27
Speaker 6
Knew. I knew you're going to say that's why it's not a marvel movie. Because you know what?
00;37;59;15 - 00;38;00;15
Speaker 3
And well.
00;38;01;09 - 00;38;25;28
Speaker 2
And but to me, I mean, for me, honestly, what the thing that drew me into the most of this was the anime was the fact that it was animated. And because that's that's been my, that's my go to thing. So. Oh, right. So that was big hero six next week actually. Well tomorrow we have got the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale.
00;38;25;28 - 00;39;00;10
Speaker 2
We've had episode five was this week and we've got the finale next week. In episode five, we had, you know, we finally saw Hayden Christensen as in some flashback scenes which kind of worked, kind of didn't. But it gave a little bit of the back story. They've already teased a return of basically another fight on Mustafar. So they're going to be doing that again.
00;39;00;10 - 00;39;14;21
Speaker 2
And I'm going to go, Oh, let's go. I will go. I haven't started one. We'll go with me. What do we want from the finale to be done? To be perfectly honest, yeah.
00;39;15;14 - 00;39;15;22
Speaker 3
Well.
00;39;16;18 - 00;39;45;14
Speaker 2
Yes. I want to see the fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. Light saber fight. Sure. I want to know whether the third sister is going to go good or bad. Sure, but I don't really care. Yes, because they've teased this dangerous coming to Luke. We know Luke's going to be okay. That has been the primary problem for this series for me from the beginning is I don't care whether that happens to third sister since I know all of the main characters are going to be okay.
00;39;46;17 - 00;39;52;26
Speaker 2
So it's it hasn't worked for me. So my biggest thing is I want it to be done.
00;39;53;08 - 00;39;56;28
Speaker 3
Pete Yeah, I know that.
00;39;57;12 - 00;40;24;03
Speaker 4
We don't agree often. Derek But I think on this one we agree pretty, pretty tightly. I think they haven't been able to with this for me, they have been able to with this show, put something into it that's unexpected enough or really has me like drawn into it. You're, you're just kind of it's kind of relying on, Oh, we want to see Obi-Wan and we want to see Ewan McGregor playing him and he's really good.
00;40;24;03 - 00;40;28;00
Speaker 4
And, but that's, that's kind of all we got. So they.
00;40;28;01 - 00;40;29;03
Speaker 2
All the series is.
00;40;29;12 - 00;40;47;17
Speaker 4
Right and you know I don't yeah I said I'm not worried about layer Luke Clearly Darth Vader can't find out where Luke I mean, the end of this last episode with a shot of Luke and it's like, well, clearly we know he doesn't know he's there because he wouldn't leave in there for eight years. So yeah, I don't.
00;40;48;14 - 00;41;09;13
Speaker 4
And even even like the, the turn from the sister I like at first when that happened, I was like, okay, this is maybe kind of clever. But then I was like, Oh, but clearly she's got to lose because like and and it also like explained why because even they try it, they like clearly killed off the chief inquisitor.
00;41;09;13 - 00;41;30;14
Speaker 4
Right. But they didn't like episode two. But, but he came back which he had to come back because he's already in a show that's after this, which is rebels. So even him I knew wasn't dead. So I don't know. It's I. I'm kind of with you. I guess I at least want to get out of here a really awesome, like, lightsaber fight.
00;41;30;14 - 00;41;46;04
Speaker 4
That's really what I want. And I'm not expecting a lot from this show, but I better have something really, really cool in this last episode between, you know, that ends up as a draw somehow, but it's still happened.
00;41;46;05 - 00;42;07;26
Speaker 2
So but the problem with that is the fact that somehow they're going to have to help understand why Obi-Wan basically couldn't fight with his lightsaber the first time he faced off with Darth Vader in this series. Now, all of a sudden, he's going to be, you know, this star with the lightsaber that quickly again, that's going to be a little bit of a I mean, you've got that little bit of continuity issue there for me.
00;42;08;13 - 00;42;34;15
Speaker 4
Yeah, I guess. But like, I still feel like we I still feel like I want to see that, that aspect of it because I feel like what we've seen is he's like regrowing into the force again, as the series has gone on like that first time he met him, he was kind of he hadn't really done much with the force up to.
00;42;34;15 - 00;43;02;26
Speaker 4
And, you know, I think that I think that's the biggest thing to me that will be of a is that okay he's like maybe he's going to connect with Kawhi John. I mean they both oh, I think shows up for five episodes. So yeah. So I think that, you know, he, he basically gets his force mojo back and is able to hopefully doesn't have to rescue rescue Leia for the fifth time though.
00;43;02;26 - 00;43;03;14
Speaker 2
Oh, he will.
00;43;04;25 - 00;43;09;08
Speaker 4
All right. All right, Steve, say something positive about this.
00;43;09;08 - 00;43;35;13
Speaker 5
I'm sort of like with Derek, I'm ready for any deeper than what I was really hoping for. What I like is sort of seeing where Leia and Obi-Wan are going from what happened to them. The lead up to the movies like realizing Leia has been dealing with Darth Vader her entire life. Pretty much. And how there's there. But I want to know how Obi-Wan got from where he is now to where for me, episode four started.
00;43;35;16 - 00;43;45;06
Speaker 5
And I don't think we're going to get that answer. Or if it is, it's going to be really brief. So I think I'm just going to be disappointed in all. So that's where I stand and.
00;43;45;17 - 00;43;48;20
Speaker 2
Oh, go ahead, Sam, that I've got a question I need to ahead.
00;43;49;07 - 00;44;11;08
Speaker 6
Yeah. Okay. So I, it's funny, I was really liking this series and I still like this series, but I had the moment during, you know, the, the whole thing with the third sister with Reba when she was, when it was sort of set up that she was going to attack Darth Vader. And I was like, Yes, kill Darth Vader.
00;44;11;08 - 00;44;13;22
Speaker 6
And then I was like, Oh, but she can't sure.
00;44;13;22 - 00;44;17;16
Speaker 3
I think she has those who are sick.
00;44;18;05 - 00;44;41;29
Speaker 6
So I just was it was really disappointing because I actually like they set this up so nicely and it would have been this like it was like a cool set up there and yeah, but then nothing happened because we know he can't die. I think it's interesting that I don't think any of us think that she's dead right or that she's we think she's still going to continue on.
00;44;41;29 - 00;44;44;15
Speaker 2
She is. She is still currently alive.
00;44;44;29 - 00;44;47;02
Speaker 4
Yeah. At the end of the episode, she was still alive.
00;44;47;15 - 00;45;07;04
Speaker 6
I mean, she. Right, right. But she, you know, as a young lang, she the same thing basically happened to her. Least that's what they made it seem like. That's what they intimated. And so how is she how is she getting back to full health? Right. Like, how is she doing using some kind of Jedi magic? I don't know.
00;45;07;04 - 00;45;28;25
Speaker 6
But I think that will be interesting to see what role she plays in the last episode. If she does or obviously we think quite engine light might have a role. The one thing that I'm hoping that we will get a little bit of resolution on is that communicator thing with Jimmy Smith. I never remember his character's name, you know, or Godfather.
00;45;28;29 - 00;45;45;22
Speaker 6
Yes. Or do you think you know, right. Leo are gonna write something, right. So so senator or Ghana and he's on that communicator that gets dropped I guess left behind by I never remember the other actors name but.
00;45;46;03 - 00;45;47;00
Speaker 3
You know the.
00;45;47;14 - 00;45;50;16
Speaker 6
Yeah, thank you. I can't remember anybody's name.
00;45;51;01 - 00;45;51;15
Speaker 3
But then.
00;45;51;21 - 00;45;53;06
Speaker 4
Jamal Nanjiani.
00;45;53;09 - 00;46;27;28
Speaker 6
Right? Yeah. Thank you. Anyway, so then so then Reeva picks it up, right? But but then nothing happens with it, right? So she knows there's something having to do with children. And, you know, one of them is she hears the name o n. So there's there's there's there foreshadowing obviously the discovery of the children by Vader. But I think it'll be interesting to see if somebody else ends up picking up that communicator, how that information eventually because we know it eventually has to make its way back to Darth Vader.
00;46;28;06 - 00;46;33;10
Speaker 6
Right. Because otherwise, how can you say to Luke, I'm your father? So we know eventually he's going to fight.
00;46;33;10 - 00;46;35;25
Speaker 4
Because his last name is still Skywalker.
00;46;35;25 - 00;46;36;19
Speaker 2
Skywalker?
00;46;36;23 - 00;46;38;06
Speaker 4
I think that's how he figures it out.
00;46;38;26 - 00;46;46;09
Speaker 6
Oh, fair enough. Okay, well, what about Leia? Right? Is he going to figure it out?
00;46;46;15 - 00;46;48;27
Speaker 4
He does. He never knows about Leia until the sixth.
00;46;48;27 - 00;46;53;22
Speaker 2
So you have a sister? Yeah. If you do not tell me.
00;46;54;13 - 00;47;18;01
Speaker 6
I'm. I'm apparently pretty dense today, but anyway, all he can do is hashtag confused. Anyway, I just. I feel like there's going to be something having to do with that. We're going to see more about that communicator. So I don't know how it's going to resolve, but it seems weird to me that Riva would be the one to hear that, listen to it, and then she'd still go after Vader.
00;47;18;25 - 00;47;21;06
Speaker 6
Anyway, I just thought that was weird. Yeah.
00;47;21;06 - 00;47;33;16
Speaker 2
Derek Okay, so my question was, I've seen several things online about, you know, Leia standing up to Darth Vader and that kind of. She hasn't seen him yet, has she?
00;47;34;16 - 00;47;35;11
Speaker 6
No, I don't think so.
00;47;35;11 - 00;47;57;07
Speaker 2
But I think it's but at some point in her career in next eight years, she has to have some kind of interaction with him just because of her interaction with him on, you know, Darth Vader just kind of, oh, it's you, really. Right. So that's got to come at some point. But I but I do.
00;47;57;07 - 00;48;07;24
Speaker 6
But isn't he going to sense that she's for sense ev right. I mean, he can sense that other people are for sensitive and then kill them, right? Why wouldn't he be able to sense that she's force sensitive.
00;48;08;29 - 00;48;12;17
Speaker 2
Because she she doesn't realize she's force sensitive.
00;48;12;17 - 00;48;16;10
Speaker 6
I know if she doesn't know she is, but she is we know she is.
00;48;16;22 - 00;48;18;01
Speaker 3
So she only really.
00;48;18;07 - 00;48;18;15
Speaker 6
That.
00;48;19;11 - 00;48;26;26
Speaker 4
She only really had force stuff in the most recent movies though she never really showed any. I don't know.
00;48;27;14 - 00;48;28;11
Speaker 2
Really. Yeah, I think, I.
00;48;28;11 - 00;48;29;23
Speaker 3
Think we.
00;48;30;21 - 00;48;36;10
Speaker 6
But it's got to be naturally in her right. I really should be able to sense it.
00;48;36;10 - 00;48;56;21
Speaker 5
Well I sure about that force speaking that force power seems like in this series, like Darth Vader is very strong with the force. And then I think about the future movies is like what happens, you know? I mean, in this series you're throwing things around and setting people backwards, sort of through flames.
00;48;56;23 - 00;48;57;26
Speaker 6
He is still dealing.
00;48;57;26 - 00;49;14;00
Speaker 2
With it, which was her, but that was also a direct reference to a video game. Yeah. Okay. Literally pulling this ship down and ripping it apart was a reference to one of the video games. I want to go back to one thing, real stories. You and I go back to one thing before I forget except forgotten it twice.
00;49;14;00 - 00;49;26;07
Speaker 2
Now, you had said, you know, she knows something about oh, when she met oh when on tattoo line in episode one. Oh she was the one that he was. She about killed him.
00;49;26;12 - 00;49;30;00
Speaker 6
He wanted to kill him. That's right. Sam was going to come back, right? Yeah. Yeah.
00;49;30;11 - 00;49;33;13
Speaker 4
But she may not have known his name and I know she told him. He told he.
00;49;33;13 - 00;49;35;04
Speaker 3
Said it's on his own.
00;49;35;13 - 00;49;41;23
Speaker 6
Yeah, right. And if she knows Catelynn and she knows Owen. Oh, that was a good Easter egg. I forgot about that.
00;49;41;26 - 00;49;45;12
Speaker 2
So. Yeah, so, yeah, she knows who she's talking about.
00;49;45;17 - 00;49;49;21
Speaker 6
So, so maybe she's going to have some. So maybe we're going to see her on tattoo.
00;49;50;21 - 00;50;02;25
Speaker 2
Oh, I think she goes to tattooing. But which direction does she go? Does she have that moment of redemption right before she dies, of doing the right thing in going over to the light side of the force.
00;50;03;06 - 00;50;06;08
Speaker 6
Mourning o n warning only about something.
00;50;06;08 - 00;50;30;18
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah. There's something's coming, so. Okay, well, that'll be really interesting for when it comes out, and that's going to be our main focus next week. I do want to touch real quick, we did have episode two of Miss Marvel coming out and Pete, I will just go around the horn. Real quick thoughts some on what you noticed on episode two.
00;50;30;18 - 00;50;56;17
Speaker 4
I am so enjoying the show. I love that it's showing the Pakistani culture, I assume fairly accurately, since a lot of the the directors and producers and writers are involved with it and like I think this is really cool. I just I just, you know, love seeing that inserted into the story from a, you know, beyond that from a superhero origin story.
00;50;56;17 - 00;51;12;26
Speaker 4
I don't think it's super original, but I except for that aspect of it, which is it's coming from a different culture. And so I, I'm enjoying the heck out of the show so far. That's all I'll say for now. So what about what about you, Steve?
00;51;13;26 - 00;51;35;23
Speaker 5
I agree with you. I'm enjoying it. I like that. At the end of this episode, we got some intrigue of what does they love? Interest, really? Now what? How does his mother play into it? I'm intrigued. I still, like we talked about last week, the little animations in the background, how they're showing parts of the story going on.
00;51;37;08 - 00;51;47;16
Speaker 5
I like that. It's still showing that this fan girl now has these superhero powers and how that all connects. I like that play on it. So what do you think, Sam?
00;51;49;03 - 00;52;09;03
Speaker 6
So I will agree with everything y'all said the only thing I'll say I don't like is I'm not loving this. The new love triangle that's being created with Cameron and Bruno. I'm. I'm I'm going to say I'm team Bruno all the way and not Team Cameron. I want the best friend to be the love interest, not the new guy.
00;52;09;03 - 00;52;31;08
Speaker 6
So but you know, I kind of feel like it is definitely more directed towards teams even though I think we're all enjoying this as adults. So I kind of understand and I and I also understand from I think it was Micah that was telling at that time, that is one of the storylines from the original comics. And so if they want to bring that in, I understand why they're doing it.
00;52;31;29 - 00;52;34;13
Speaker 6
But yeah. Team Bruno all the way there.
00;52;34;13 - 00;52;41;08
Speaker 4
Yeah. I mean between Luca and Encanto and this Bruno's are really getting the shaft.
00;52;43;08 - 00;53;15;16
Speaker 2
Except incognito he actually gets redeemed so in guys instead of high school musical this is high school marvel for me it's just the you guys the representation. Yeah. Great. That's where this episode lost me, to be perfectly honest, is the extended length, the time, the family discussions just seem to dragging the action down. We didn't really get any action until the end.
00;53;15;26 - 00;53;38;03
Speaker 2
I mean, season two of high school musical, the series, the guy goes off, the girl goes off to a camp, be away for six months. Bruno's going to go off and be away for six months. I mean, it's like Marvel is finally starting to run out of teenage ideas, so they're having to borrow from other not so great series.
00;53;38;03 - 00;53;40;08
Speaker 3
But I mean.
00;53;40;28 - 00;54;13;28
Speaker 2
The the whole thing with the, you know, the good cop, bad cop as far as, you know, trying to figure out who she is. Sure. I kind of saw that one coming. It's you knew that was what's you know, that you knew that was going to come. It's real interesting about how some of the stuff we talked about last week with the boyfriend and not really being sure who he really is.
00;54;14;15 - 00;54;39;10
Speaker 2
And we talked about who in the comics, there's someone or someone controlling him that knows he has powers in his power. Sensitive, basically. I think that's going to be the mother character in this one. I do not trust those two at all. I think that's going to be a negative direction. And it's it was interesting. I saw a conversation they did an interview with Kevin five this week.
00;54;39;18 - 00;55;03;02
Speaker 2
And basically he said that within the next six months, we will get a very clear direction of what the next saga is going to be. And the Miss Marvel character is going to play a big part in it because she she will be the main feature of the Marvel's movie, not Captain Marvel. It will be Ms.. Marvel will be your main your main character in that.
00;55;03;02 - 00;55;03;25
Speaker 4
Was interesting.
00;55;04;12 - 00;55;04;20
Speaker 3
Night.
00;55;04;22 - 00;55;06;15
Speaker 6
So I like that I like that.
00;55;08;00 - 00;55;25;22
Speaker 2
Between that and Loki season two and he said basically by this time next year you'll know who your next main bad guys are going to be. So I think I think this is this is going to be nothing more than just a set up series. I don't think there's going to be much conclusion at the end of it at all.
00;55;27;09 - 00;55;50;06
Speaker 2
So it's knowing I have these series without any kind of a big payoff kind of makes me not really want to watch it anymore, to be perfectly honest. So I. Well, we'll watch it for you there. Well, no, no, trust me. I'm going to have to watch it because I'm on here. And it's like he says, bring on the baddies.
00;55;50;06 - 00;56;15;11
Speaker 2
I will say we do need another good, fully developed villain. We need another Thanos esque villain. I would argue that is doing the wrong things, but as we found out in the Eternals was kind of doing it for the right reasons. So to try and try and save Earth is why he thought he had to kill half of the population.
00;56;15;20 - 00;56;16;06
Speaker 2
So. Right.
00;56;16;07 - 00;56;23;07
Speaker 6
Well, we we maybe have that in the villain that we saw at the end of the first season of Loki. Right.
00;56;23;07 - 00;56;25;29
Speaker 3
So I mean, it's all well.
00;56;26;05 - 00;56;32;18
Speaker 4
Yang Yeah, I think King's going to be I think there's a good chance he's the big bad I think.
00;56;32;18 - 00;56;32;27
Speaker 2
Yeah, I.
00;56;32;27 - 00;56;41;21
Speaker 6
Think he's a bit. Yeah. No that's what I mean. That's, I mean, but remember the, the game that we saw was played to be doing what he was doing.
00;56;41;22 - 00;56;42;06
Speaker 4
Not that.
00;56;42;07 - 00;56;45;23
Speaker 3
Yeah. Right, right. Different thing. Agreed.
00;56;45;23 - 00;56;46;21
Speaker 6
Agreed. Agreed.
00;56;47;06 - 00;57;18;17
Speaker 2
Yeah. Now next week, guys, we have got a great special surprise for you guys next week we have Warren Prowl, who is own McGregor's Ewan McGregor's stand in in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He is in multiple other Star Wars stuff. So he is going to be out next week. We're going to be talking to him about there'll be one finale about his experiences on the Star Wars sets.
00;57;19;09 - 00;57;58;15
Speaker 2
If you guys have questions you want us to ask him, send this wait. Email us at plus button at gmail.com. Let us know the questions you want. There's more questions we can preload it. The better it is. More likely it is, it will have a really good and developed answer for you. This is something that our producer Gina has helped set up, and I guess I've been looking forward to this for even longer than we've been watching the Obi-Wan, because we we behind the scenes have known that this has been coming for, you know, four or five weeks now, for five weeks, even before the Obi-Wan series, we knew he would be able to be
00;57;58;15 - 00;58;26;27
Speaker 2
coming on. So guys, send us your questions. Let us now tell your friends and just because, though you don't necessarily send us your questions ahead of time, we're still going to be able to ask them on the air. So this is definitely one where you want to come on and ask the questions of the guy who was probably on the screen, at least some of you back in Ewan McGregor's.
00;58;26;27 - 00;58;29;06
Speaker 3
Of course, that's.
00;58;29;06 - 00;58;38;05
Speaker 4
My first question is, does he just stand in when they're setting up the shots or is he is he still in Edinburgh, right? Yeah, right. When the camera is filming.
00;58;38;05 - 00;58;52;02
Speaker 6
So he he's also been, I think it stand ins for some of the or some other actors. I think Gina will be to give more information. But he's been a stand in for some of the other actors and he's been an extra in other scenes and things like that and.
00;58;52;04 - 00;58;57;23
Speaker 2
Multiples in Boba Fett. I know he was at a couple different cinema people. Yeah.
00;58;57;23 - 00;59;05;19
Speaker 6
So yeah. So he's, he's not just the stand in, he's the, he's on his on screen talent as well. So it's going to be really exciting.
00;59;06;14 - 00;59;29;22
Speaker 2
Yeah, that so that will be next Tuesday at nine Eastern, six Pacific. That will be a definitely a definitely a live show for us. Come on, guys. But if you get your questions and early guys, it'll be so much better for him to be able to have a chance to get your questions. We are on all major podcasting platforms, but guys, I'll say it again next week's one I will definitely want to see live.
00;59;30;16 - 00;59;36;11
Speaker 2
So with that being said, guys, thank you to Steve for filling in with us this week.
00;59;36;11 - 00;59;38;29
Speaker 6
Nothing. Thanks for joining us here.
