So on Disney Plus Day will be the live action Pinocchio. And so this is going to star Tom Hanks, the Sapelo, and it released they released a trailer of this movie today. I haven't watched it, but I'm sure it's pretty good. 00;04;16;24 - 00;04;32;02 Speaker 2 It looks like they're going to go and they advertise it as from the people that brought you the live action beauty and the beast and the live action Lion King. So I'm feeling it's going to go very close to the original story. Matter of fact, I mean, the Jiminy Cricket in the original movie, the original movie. Yes. And there were so many announcements, the first of which is the series and or is going to premiere August 31st and it also had a trailer release Star Wars Tales of the Jedi, which is a series of shorts about Asoka Tano and Count Duku is going to appear on Disney plus this fall and Asoka and Duku will be featured in three episodes each with at least one featuring the return of Kwai Duncan voiced by Liam Neeson. 00;05;39;25 - 00;06;06;13 Speaker 1 Yes, this is a big deal. In other news, Amanda Laurie in season three is coming in February of 2023 star Wars Visions, the animated shorts that tell the tales of Jedi in the style of various anime movies which we watched the previous season of. Was this a forceful start or is this series headed for the dark side? 00;09;08;09 - 00;09;29;21 Speaker 3 OK, well, my expectation guns were super duper low, like really low, because I was thinking it's going to be watching the fire meditating for at least 20, 30 minutes in that first episode. And that didn't happen. So this actually met my expectations. It exceeded my expectations, and I fell in love with our little Princess Leia. And that casting was amazing. 00;09;30;00 - 00;09;49;19 Speaker 3 The one part that's a little dark side for me was the casting of Flea. The casting. A flea threw me out and I started singing Danny California, and I'm like, What is going on? And that was the only part that I was like, This is really bad cast. I also I forgot about this church, which is now the Grand Inquisitor is not the Grand Inquisitor from the Clone Wars. 00;09;49;19 - 00;09;58;02 Speaker 3 And so I got a little irked on that. How come they didn't pick the right guy? But then we saw what happened. So hopefully the right inquisitor will show up and then we can have that. 00;09;58;06 - 00;10;00;19 Speaker 2 OK, is he really dead? Though, or is it? 00;10;00;19 - 00;10;02;24 Speaker 4 Yeah, I think he's the same. So I was very thrown off by that. So maybe that was part of my problem. But I remember one booboo I could not that was a worse casting. So it's forceful starting however dark side fully. Anyway, what about you, Pete? 00;10;25;25 - 00;10;50;12 Speaker 4 So I have liked it. I I'll give I'll give it a forceful start. Also, I don't think it's been great. I think it's I think the star Wars TV series are starting to maybe show their flaws that they're kind of a little bit same me, same kind of all the same tone. But I did love seeing Ewan McGregor. 00;10;50;12 - 00;11;10;16 Speaker 4 I loved some of the Easter eggs, which I think we're going to get into a couple of those as I'm coming up on that. Talk more. But I did like that and I was very close in my predictions because I said I think they're going to get off of tattooing very quickly. And I also thought it wasn't going to be about Luke. 00;11;10;16 - 00;11;30;02 Speaker 4 Now, I didn't I was surprised that it ended up being Leia being the character, and I was well, that was probably the coolest part for me. I was like, Oh yeah, that's a good idea, because like it explains why in episode four, she's like, she knows who he is because otherwise how would she know who he is, you know? 00;11;30;02 - 00;11;31;20 Speaker 1 So it really will be one. 00;11;31;27 - 00;11;55;09 Speaker 4 Right? Right. So like, would she just have known him by reputation? I don't know. But, you know, so it kind of worked. I thought that I thought that worked. The first episode was kind of draggy. I thought it could it could have moved a little faster. But it also made sense that the end of the episode was him like accepting the task. 00;11;55;09 - 00;12;04;08 Speaker 4 But like, to me it's like, did we really need 45 minutes of is Obi Wan going to going to help or not? Because really he was going to help. 00;12;04;18 - 00;12;09;29 Speaker 3 But I wasn't meditating about it. I thought for sure he'd be in meditation mode first. 00;12;10;01 - 00;12;34;07 Speaker 4 So, so, so I'd say it was, it was better than Gina's. He's going to sit in front of the fire for 45 minutes, but it could have been paced a little bit there. And then the second episode I thought was was really was the first one. And I liked the pace that I mostly liked layup, but I thought this isn't a ten year old. 00;12;34;07 - 00;12;39;26 Speaker 4 But that was, that was idea. This isn't set when they're ten years old. But then they called her ten several times. So. Yeah, yeah, I thought that. I thought that was kind of strange, but I, I, she played it as like the annoying child. Which usually gets on my nerves, but like, this is, this is Princess Leia. 00;13;15;20 - 00;13;19;10 Speaker 4 She would be the annoying, annoying child. 00;13;19;16 - 00;13;22;16 Speaker 3 That's why it was a well cast. So I'm sorry, I've been hogging the mic, so I'm going to turn it over. See, him? 00;13;31;27 - 00;13;53;17 Speaker 1 Well, I will say I loved these two episodes, and I am. I like Star Wars, but I am not the Star Wars. Super fan that Gina is. And I would say I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about Star Wars as Pete is. I've not watched any of the cartoons. I didn't like that bad batch show that we watched for a bit, but I. 00;13;53;24 - 00;14;17;24 Speaker 1 I loved the way they set up this show. It was really, really smart for those of us who haven't watched the movies in quite some time. And when I say the movies, I mean episodes one through nine. I loved that. They gave us the whole flashback, right? Previous on. Right. They do that on normal TV shows, but they don't do that normally when there isn't like a prior episode. 00;14;17;24 - 00;14;50;04 Speaker 1 But here they actually did. They gave us the whole Luke and lay a back story, you know how that they were and a kids kids and how Obi Wan was training Anakin because quite than got killed. So all of that set up giving me that in a bite size like flashback was so helpful because not that I wouldn't have figured it out and remembered as the show went on but it was just so refreshing for somebody who's not a Star Wars super fan and made watching made the show super watchable. 00;14;50;26 - 00;15;13;01 Speaker 1 I also loved that it followed Leia. I was not I kind of didn't know what to expect. I had really had no predictions about what was going to happen. But I love the organizers. I love Jimmy Smits. I think he's wonderful as the senator and I love his wife. And I just love that they spent some time with that family unit. 00;15;13;21 - 00;15;54;29 Speaker 1 I loved Little Leia, even though she's definitely not ten. She's probably like six or seven I love that she's into her little her little box. Right. And things like that. Like, I just thought it was really well done. I also thought it was really interesting to see a different side of Obi Wan, right? We think of Obi Wan as this hero, as this helper guy, but we got to see Obi Wan really have to take on this completely different persona of being not involved because he was trying to hide and watch Luke watch over Luke and stay undetected and how conflicted he was about helping when that other Jedi showed up on Katwe. 00;15;54;29 - 00;16;12;27 Speaker 1 So I thought that was an idea that was kind of a side story, but I thought that was a good way of getting bringing the inquisitors to Tatsumi and then kind of introducing us to them before we see Obi Wan actually leave. So I thought they did a great set up. Yes. Episode one was really not a ton of plot happening. 00;16;12;27 - 00;16;36;20 Speaker 1 It was more background development. We knew introducing characters kind of setting the stage for the plot. I thought that was really well done, even though yes, it was a slower episode. But then episode two, when he leaves the planet to go rescue Leia, definitely moves more. I really like the the female inquisitor, the African-American woman. She was just, you know, bad ass. I really it's so I. Yeah, I mean, I think we've got some interesting new characters. I agree that Lee as kind of the thug for anyone who's watching Flee, is from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he acts, but he's also like a famous drummer, and. 00;17;08;05 - 00;17;09;18 Speaker 2 So he acts. 00;17;10;01 - 00;17;12;01 Speaker 3 He's in. Has been a working actor for a while now, but like, he's just super recognizable as the drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And it's just really weird. I agree with Eugene. I don't think that was well cast, but his role was so it was fine. It's just the, you know, the planet thug, basically. 00;17;45;07 - 00;17;54;07 Speaker 1 So, yeah. Anyway, I thought it was a great forceful start, as Derek put it. I loved it, and I'm really excited for episode three. 00;17;54;25 - 00;17;59;11 Speaker 4 It was like John Mulaney as Chip. Yes. There's a reason they brought out two episodes the first week because nothing happened in episode one, which. 00;18;24;16 - 00;18;26;03 Speaker 3 We predicted we did predict. Right? 00;18;26;03 - 00;18;47;09 Speaker 2 We did predict that. But it was so boring. It was so slow. It was just. Yes, we get it. He's having issues. The biggest issue I have with this series is the lack of drama. We know nothing is going to happen. Nothing real bad is going to happen to Leah. She's going to live. Luke is going to be OK. 00;18;47;11 - 00;18;54;14 Speaker 2 Obi Wan is going to live. When we knew what she was threatening on, we knew she wasn't going to kill him. We knew she wasn't going to kill him. 00;18;55;00 - 00;18;55;27 Speaker 3 Because he shows up in. 00;18;56;02 - 00;19;10;15 Speaker 2 Where's the drama in this series? Where is the I don't know what's going to happen next because none of the other characters I care about yes. What I can see is Jimmy Smits. That was her mom. Right. And so it took a minute to realize, who is this woman coming in and talking to her? And so it's just one of those where, oh, it's her mom. Wait, she's pornopat me honest. I mean, this goes to show to me that there are no original stories left at Disney right now. Why? I mean, Derek. No, no, tell me the last original thing we saw thank you. So anyway, man, to me. Know it follows this guy who makes prosthetics for animals. So he does it for mostly dogs, but a lot of farm animals, horses, donkeys, goats, all kinds of animals. But basically animals that have lost a limb or were born without a limb or were born with deformed lens. He used to do human prosthetics. Apparently, I was reading the bio of this guy, and it is amazing. 00;35;41;00 - 00;36;07;25 Speaker 1 To watch how he he basically crafts everything from scratch. He you know, he fits the animals. He takes the like a cast of their whatever, their pa, their body or whatever he needs to do and then creates a prosthetic. You know, he tested on them. These, if it works, make some adjustments and you see these animals who are going from struggling to walk or stand to being able to run. 00;36;07;25 - 00;36;36;24 Speaker 1 And in some cases, you know, they're able to walk, but they're they're screwing up the alignment of their spine and things like that because they're compensating for whatever deformity they have. And then there's also some reality competition. And and we've watched the first three episodes, I think there might be eight episodes. And I was at my daughter earlier today. I would say it's a little too heavily weighted towards the time. On the reality.
