First up, having air Bardeen will be playing a villain in an upcoming MCU vehicle. Thoughts are that he will be playing Mr. Sinister, but nothing has been announced yet. Mike, do you want to tell us anything about Mr. Sinister? 00;03;27;06 - 00;04;03;24 Micah Well, I think it's exciting that we're seeing Mr. Sinister because I think this leads into a little bit more that we're going to get the X-Men and Mutants. He is a X-Men villain, has been since the very beginning most of his major outings in the Marvel Universe is against the X-Men. If people remember the Apocalypse movie with the X-Men, he's often paired with Apocalypse and is another one of these has been around for ages and ages and ages and is actually a mutant clone in the current version. 00;04;03;24 - 00;04;15;04 Micah And it's his mind has been passed on from multiple clones, but he is another help between. Yeah. And looks about as good. Yes. Typically. 00;04;15;04 - 00;04;15;24 Derrick Okay fair enough. 00;04;16;09 - 00;04;26;01 Micah Yeah. So he is another sign and I'm guessing they haven't announced it because it's, it's hopefully a mutant movie that he'll be in. We're going to talk about all of that, because let me tell you all what confused Kate is is ready to show up in full force. But continuing with the Disney plus News, Keanu Reeves is filming an F1 doc, a new F1 docu series for Disney. Plus, it focuses on the 2009 season and the rapid rise to success of the Honda racing team. 00;04;53;12 - 00;04;57;10 Kate Many of the participants in the action will be involved. 00;04;57;17 - 00;05;19;19 Derrick Yeah, and I'm actually really looking forward to this one, Kate. And I will say Glenn, who we've had on a couple of times, is really looking forward to it. He's kind of my resident racing expert, but apparently a lot happens in the 2009 season. That really changes how the Formula One races even occur today. Okay. And last but certainly not least, Lightyear year will be released on Disney Plus on August 3rd. This origin story of Buzz Lightyear has done okay in theaters, but has not made the traditional waves that a Pixar release typically has. 00;06;09;27 - 00;06;21;09 Kate And I'll be honest, I haven't seen it. I know Ryan, who's watching right now, has. So I will be interested to hear his thoughts on Lightyear. Micah, I'm going to jump to you on this one. Then we'll pick Pete back up when he comes back in. Got a couple options on the bet on the true villain for the series. What are your thoughts? 00;07;52;23 - 00;08;03;13 Micah So I think there's sort of two that kind of play as the villains. The one is the one I'm going to forget. The organization named the DEO apartment of the DC. 00;08;03;18 - 00;08;05;08 Derrick Damage control. Damage control. 00;08;05;08 - 00;08;29;17 Micah Yeah, damage control is often how they refer to them. So they, I think in many ways play the more human bad guy. But then the what's the other group called the clandestine? Yes, I think the clandestine. Now, I would separate out Kurt Cameron. Cameron. There we go. I'm starting with the name. 00;08;29;17 - 00;08;33;25 Derrick So how am I giving the answers to these? Me? I mean. 00;08;33;25 - 00;08;36;21 Micah Oh, it's been a long, hard day. The brainy were good. 00;08;37;03 - 00;08;37;19 Derrick That's fair. 00;08;37;28 - 00;09;13;02 Micah So but yeah I think the it definitely in that last episode you are running from the damage control folks and they in many ways are the bad guys that are surface level. But this tear is could wipe out the whole world and is Cameron going to reopen that so he's put as sort of the the ticking time bomb, but yet you're still trying to see him as human and yeah, trying to hopefully have him be redeemed. 00;09;13;02 - 00;09;18;16 Micah So he's the greatest threat. But I think the bad guys is the damage control. But Pete, what do you think? 00;09;19;15 - 00;09;55;06 Pete Yeah, I think I think in the end, it ended up being damage control was the biggest threat to Kamala and her friends. And I think Cameron obviously has had some issues with the powers that he's been given. And. Right. There's potentially, you know, in a future movie or TV show, we could see him come back and, you know, he he was the one thing I read was he was using his powers to threaten and Kamala was using her powers to defend. 00;09;55;24 - 00;10;19;01 Pete So, you know, they were they were a little different in that way that he wasn't really so concerned about if he was going to hurt anybody, whereas she was not trying to hurt anybody. So but in the in the end, he, you know, didn't actually hurt anybody because of her efforts. And they kind of let him out. But Derek has something he wants to say. 00;10;19;01 - 00;10;54;25 Derrick I was going to say she he did hurt people. He did hurt people. He couldn't alter he couldn't really hurt people because Kamala stopped him. He was he was smashing cars. He was ducking. But he did hurt people. He just couldn't, you know, really, really hurt people because but as far as him not actually hurting people, I can see him coming back as a villain later because the him playing with Kamala's emotions, I can see with him and I don't think that would necessarily have been on purpose in this show, but I could see him using it against her. 00;10;54;25 - 00;11;02;29 Derrick I do not trust Cameron and I think make that does go kind of ties him with the comics doesn't where Cameron is not necessarily trustworthy right. 00;11;02;29 - 00;11;27;07 Micah And they they made him a much nicer character in the on the TV show than what he ends up being in the comics. He ends up ultimately being one of the bad guys in the comics. But he didn't have the the the tear to the other realm didn't seem to be part of his power set in the comics. 00;11;27;16 - 00;11;52;11 Micah And he seems like if he loses it, he could rip open a tear and have the other realm come in and that so but I actually hope and marvel please be listening to me when I say this. Don't bring him back. He wasn't a good enough actor for so and I actually don't enjoy him as a character. So he was good for the first season, but let's never see him again. 00;11;52;11 - 00;11;55;27 Micah There's more, better stuff to come. Yeah, I would probably. 00;11;55;27 - 00;12;25;15 Derrick Now, Michael, you and I had a conversation interesting a little bit before the show though as far as the dog DC and their treatment of the mosque and their treatment of and just the treatment of the overall society's treatment of the Muslim individuals that were in this show and how it's its tie to today's society and how today's society and I would argue more so early. 00;12;25;15 - 00;12;26;10 Derrick 2000s. 00;12;27;00 - 00;12;27;09 Micah Yeah. 00;12;28;18 - 00;12;52;20 Derrick With the scapegoat that the Muslim society has been made of something that goes wrong. Well, they're your first suspects. And it I mean, it was huge after 911 and it was because there were, you know, you went on a plane and there were people who if someone looked different or talked different, well, they must be the terrorists. And you need to get them off my plane. 00;12;52;29 - 00;13;05;04 Derrick And I saw that firsthand. So, yeah, Micah, you know how they went? They invaded the mosque. I thought one of the funnier things was when, okay. Kamala's friend. 00;13;05;29 - 00;13;11;03 Micah Oh, uh, yeah. Hang on. Give me a. 00;13;11;03 - 00;13;13;09 Kate Minute. I don't. Doesn't know. 00;13;13;23 - 00;13;15;15 Derrick You mean Kamala snickered? You know. 00;13;15;21 - 00;13;17;13 Micah Nikki? Yeah. 00;13;17;18 - 00;13;23;19 Derrick She was, you know. No, you can't go in there. Totally. Okay, but fine. And it's this a completely other guy? Yeah. 00;13;23;25 - 00;13;24;01 Micah Yeah. 00;13;24;01 - 00;13;24;15 Derrick So. 00;13;25;08 - 00;13;45;19 Micah Well, the scene with the shoes. So you're not respecting it and coming in with the shoes. And we saw that in an earlier episode and it was like, okay, what's the what's the deal DC going to do when they come back and what do they do? They march straight in with their shoes and they, they made an effort of, to showing, look, here they are. 00;13;45;27 - 00;14;02;07 Micah But I also loved the people in the mosque. What did they do? They had their IDs ready. It was like, Yeah, we're used to this. This is unfortunately the treatment we get. And also the comment that Nikki has said at one point when they're like, Oh, but it's safe to come to a mosque. And she's like, This is a mosque in America. 00;14;02;07 - 00;14;10;19 Micah No, it's not safe. Everybody's looking at us. And I was like, Oh, ooh, ouch. Yeah. Bit of political commentary. 00;14;10;21 - 00;14;17;29 Derrick And I love the Abraham Lincoln quote she threw out. No, no, the the imam threw Adam. Yes. Okay. 00;14;18;11 - 00;14;52;11 Kate Cake. Yeah, I just I wanted to to echo what Micah said about going back to the villain he put it so well with, or at least I think it was. Oh, it's one of these two jokers down here. I don't remember which one it was that the DOD DC was the human villain that was the villain that like hits at our humanity, that hits on what the Islamic community faces regularly. 00;14;52;11 - 00;15;17;24 Kate And it's unfortunate and it's unfair and it's not okay, but that hit from the humanity side and then but had you before I really thought about it in before Micah said this, I was like, oh, the clandestine they're like the gins. Like they're the ones who are the bad guys, obviously, because if they hadn't come back and did all this stuff, nothing would have happened. 00;15;17;24 - 00;15;33;00 Kate But I don't think that that's after Micah said that. I think it was my I said that I was like, Oh, that's a really good point that you have, like the mystic side and then the human side and they're both important in that. 00;15;33;01 - 00;16;00;12 Pete Yeah. And it's very common in Marvel for some portion of the government to be the bad guy. Yeah. Whether, whether it's Hydra as part of the government or it's just you know, these different word sword was, you know, at one point in in Wandavision was kind of a betrayed is the bad I mean there's people in the government that are shown as overstepping their bounds and that kind of even in this last episode is what happened. 00;16;00;14 - 00;16;27;28 Pete Yeah. And I'm not going to remember the name of the character, but the guy that was back at headquarters was like telling the one on their charge, Stand down, stand down, stand down. She went and did it anyways and you know, yeah it does feel, it does feel very, you know, our society, parts of our society right now and the mistrust of the law enforcement, let's say. 00;16;28;14 - 00;16;50;02 Derrick Which did that remind anyone else of? Ocean's 30, Ocean's 12 oath with, you know, the don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, you refuse it. And she the oh, what is her name? Catherine Zeta Jones character goes in and forges the signature. Anyway, he calls in all these police, right? Well, it reminded me a little bit of it, so don't do it. 00;16;50;02 - 00;17;11;15 Derrick Don't do it. You're bringing in everybody. Steve does say there was no true real villain. One of the things he was disappointed in, Steve, I'm kind of with you on that one. I'm it was one of the things I was disappointed in. And he says hearing Michael's comment makes him think the nicer version is calm is why they feel there was no real villain. 00;17;11;15 - 00;17;17;29 Derrick Cameron I think Cameron and Michael, you can David Cameron easily could have been a true villain in this story. 00;17;18;24 - 00;17;19;06 Micah Yeah. 00;17;19;26 - 00;17;20;06 Derrick Yeah. 00;17;20;18 - 00;17;35;10 Micah Yeah. He and his mother, I think in the in the early comics are much more the villains. They really humanized him in this where in the comics he doesn't end well in this one they've left it open much better. 00;17;35;17 - 00;17;55;26 Pete Yeah. Yeah, well and I think they were kind of wishy washy with that in that like he, they, they kinda made him bad because like he had that moment with Kamala where they, where they like hold hands or whatever. And then after that he starts doing we'll say bad things, but he's not really a villain. So they kind of wish he watched it to me. 00;17;55;26 - 00;18;17;08 Pete They like they like wanted to show him were in a work in a slightly worse light than her but didn't want to actually make him a bad guy. And I don't know. And I do agree that it was probably one of the flaws of this show. What I will say they did well is like some of these Marvel shows, there's like seven villains. 00;18;17;24 - 00;18;46;20 Pete And I sometimes get sick of that, that it's like, okay, we need a villain here. But, but yeah, here. I think they just they the villains weren't they only had really the two villains, but I don't think either them were very strong. I think I think the oh I keep I keep forgetting they're called the clandestine I think were the stronger villain but they basically eliminated them. 00;18;46;20 - 00;18;58;06 Pete They showed up in the end of the second episode and eliminated them in the fifth. So they were like hardly villains. And yeah, I don't know. Yeah I, I buy in with that as well. 00;19;19;10 - 00;19;33;02 Micah Okay though if you know her early series, her villain, I'm glad they stayed away from the pigeon guy that the inventor. The inventor that saved us, I think. But anyway, let's move on. 00;19;33;13 - 00;20;01;09 Derrick Yeah. Okay. So the next thing and actually, Mike, I'm going to go with you. Her powers evolve over the over the course of the series from and I would argue they evolve but maybe it's more she knows how to control them a little bit more because in the opening she does her hair and gets really big and it goes out and saves the social media girl and all that kind of stuff does happen as well. 00;20;01;15 - 00;20;16;21 Derrick So can you kind of talk, Mike? I guess my question is how they come by the end of the series. How do they compare to the comics versus at the beginning? And you know how her powers evolved compared to some of these source stories? 00;20;17;09 - 00;20;48;25 Micah Yeah, I don't know. I think there was a lot of fans that were upset with the change of in her power set. But we finally get in the last episode her looking like what she does in all of the the comics and the key line is when she's behind the cars and they're shooting at her and she says in begin and that's the language that they use of she and begins her hands or her legs or her head or so we got to finally see her in as if she was in her comic form. 00;20;49;09 - 00;21;10;13 Micah And Cameron uses his powers like a power blast kind of thing, but she uses it as in beginning herself. And so we got to see her, you know, be the big hand smash on the truck and have big legs. And that, for those of us who have read the comics, is like, Oh, we're finally getting to see Ms.. 00;21;10;13 - 00;21;35;21 Micah Marvel the way she normally fights. I'm curious to see if they keep that as more of how she uses her abilities moving forward. But with the power set and Cameron's power set, it looked like they took the two of them and said, We need to figure out a way to make them as if they were together and took two characters that had very different power sets and kind of split the difference. 00;21;35;21 - 00;21;37;23 Micah And that's how they came up with both their power sets. 00;21;37;28 - 00;21;40;02 Derrick What was Cameron's power in the comics? 00;21;40;24 - 00;21;49;10 Micah Oh, now. And that's I think it's energy projection and energy. Okay, he can shoot energy so similar to. 00;21;49;11 - 00;21;50;23 Derrick A more like he does. 00;21;50;26 - 00;21;59;09 Micah Yeah, more like he does. But it looks like hers. So I think they were trying to make the two of them look like they were the same. 00;21;59;23 - 00;22;03;14 Derrick Set to try and kind of make some kind of a connection between the two, whether their. 00;22;03;14 - 00;22;26;14 Micah Power comes from the same thing. I'm guessing, though, we see at that end scene, I think we're going to come to this with is she a mutant? And that has different. But with the power set that I think is interesting because I think that is part of the evolution of what she is trying to figure out who she is. 00;22;28;09 - 00;22;41;29 Micah Yeah. And how her power set works. I think having it more energy based and more on Crytek, which I think it's sort of subtly in the background of this. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. 00;22;42;02 - 00;22;49;08 Derrick You just you I'm sure if you go into it, you're confused. Kate Okay, so there. What do you mean by her powers going to Crytek. 00;22;49;16 - 00;22;56;05 Micah So in the is it the second or the third episode when they find the. 00;22;56;06 - 00;22;57;05 Derrick Blue arm? 00;22;57;13 - 00;23;28;00 Micah The blue arm, yeah. Is well I right away I was like, oh yeah, the creep serum rocket, my mike, the Cree or blue mostly. And we saw that with Captain Marvel, the, the Kree who she thinks she's one of the Kree for a while. Often they're blue. The band there is the original girl in the comics. The original Captain Marvel was Kree, and he had these two bands, I think they called them negative bands. 00;23;28;19 - 00;23;32;26 Micah And I think that her bangle is one of those two. 00;23;33;05 - 00;23;37;01 Derrick And it will get to the end she and seen here in a little bit yeah. 00;23;37;10 - 00;23;44;06 Micah We won't jump there but that I think ties and is going to tie into the new movie The Marvels and I've lost. 00;23;44;06 - 00;23;45;19 Derrick Kate Kate just nod. 00;23;45;19 - 00;23;55;22 Kate Smile. No I'm trying to remember the Kree. There's a Kree in Guardians of the Galaxy. But we find out as the movie goes on that they're that they're bad guys. Well, the other thing I wanted to mention in that same scene where they found the bangle, if you one of the shots is from above, and that also has the symbol of the ten rings, which we also are starting to think are also like Kree power, I think. 00;24;39;04 - 00;24;39;11 Micah Yep. 00;24;39;25 - 00;25;12;19 Pete Similar to the Bangle and the tell me if you think about them, they kind of do the same thing, right? Bangle You wear it on your wrist, ten rings, you wear them on your wrist. So I think that's you know, there's there's been a lot of complaints about phase four being disjointed, but if there's any kind of throughline in phase four that we're starting to, I think I think this show maybe lets us start to see that the the the the Kree tech is the is the through line that might be coming to phase four. 00;25;12;19 - 00;25;13;27 Pete And I think that's where we're going to get. 00;25;13;27 - 00;25;40;04 Derrick To the end now. I did I did see something and Kate will get to you in just a second as you're scratching your nose. That would they actually didn't interview with Kevin Kevin Fike and he said that Phase four's main point up to now is that it is so different. And being different from everything they've done before so far is actually phase four is the idea behind phase four. 00;25;40;11 - 00;25;47;01 Derrick And yet Gina says her mind is officially blown. So my third favorite character was I love how they portrayed Nakia. I love her bravery in in running for the council or the board. He had some of the best lines in the whole thing. But I also love some of the other Muslim characters that are there at the little boy who's stealing the shoes and falls off and some of his little things of the post that he does. And then the guy who's the the sandwich maker who says, Oh, ice cream pizza, I thought the three of those characters just added some really good fun life but very real ness to yeah, the world. I loved in the the trailers at the end when it was going through and it talked about the changes here. And I just that was such a perfect moment. I really I really just liked that character a lot. Even though he wasn't probably as important as the mom. And she was very good, too. I thought it was perfect that between the two of them, they give her her outfit and they name her and they were building to that through the whole series. There is a soft place in my heart for guys who are friends zoned with someone that they absolutely adore. Because guys I, I know a couple of a couple of the partners know guys I lived that that would that was me and my current wife was I was totally friend zoned and he's doing everything he can to help her as his best friend because the the other girl may be kamala's best friend, but she is his best friend and she is his best friend by far. 00;35;11;07 - 00;35;40;06 Derrick And as someone who has had a female best friend who they desperately want to get other friends on, I mean, the look on his face when he's she he sees the two of them, her and Cameron about to kiss broke my heart just as a oh my gosh I have totally been in that situation, not necessarily seeing the the girl about to kiss someone but just as a, oh, my gosh, what can I do to get out of this? 00;35;40;17 - 00;36;13;19 Derrick And that's why I really hope Cameron is the bad guy. And Cameron comes back. Comes back to be completely evil because I'm on I'm Team Bruno. I'm Team Bruno all the way on this one. So it's one of those where I mean, Cameron could be evil. So okay, now one probably the biggest point in this and Micah, I know you and I actually kind of called this a little bit from the beginning. How do we know what's going to be the X-Men? We see some well more. When that happened, it was just sort of this, wow, they're bringing in and all of us fans went nuts. 00;38;29;28 - 00;38;58;05 Micah It's the first time they've actually used the language of mutant or mutation and that link that that's the music that was there is such a clue that, Oh, it's the X-Men. So I think those are the biggest clues that we have, whether she was a basically everybody who wasn't inhuman had a mutation in our in a way a mutant. 00;38;58;05 - 00;39;23;28 Micah They're triggered by the Trojan mess, but they're a mutant who's triggered with that. So I think it's interesting. Well, let me put it this way. Her line there right after that scene, and he says, Your mutation, there's this pause that music plays. And then she says it's just another label, which I'm sort of like, Oh, that's a good slap in the face to all the fans when you're like, Is she a mutant? 00;39;23;28 - 00;39;37;23 Micah Is she in inhuman? Hey, it's just another label and we're bringing them to you. And it's like, Whoa, okay. So I don't know if that's quite what you were looking for. I mean, I think we knew and I think I think that's a big part of it is back with Agents of Shield also. There was actually a very short lived show called Inhumans. Yeah, so museum humans who have a mutated gene, the x gene, the thing within humans, they're very, very similar. When human when regular humans who aren't don't have the mutation go through turgid mist, it kills them. But for those who have this other mutation, the turgid Ms. mutates them further and they become Inhumans. 00;41;30;02 - 00;41;40;23 Micah So it's a fine thing. They're both humans with a mutation. Like her ancestor, the clandestine is when they clipped it on, it did affect them, but they couldn't use Powers and her grandmother, it affected her, but she didn't have powers. But something's mutated about Kamala, so she's a mutant. So one question I've seen is that people are posting online is who is it really? At the end? And the reason I'm posting this and posing this question is because, Myka, correct me if I'm wrong in the comics, the first thing that Ms.. Yeah. Okay. And then a big part of the story is her taking her own face as a superhero because she can, right? Yeah. It just happened. So my guess is the person who was touching the other one, Captain Marvel, she triggered something and that caused the switch. 00;48;45;28 - 00;48;48;00 Derrick And I'm hoping we see that at some point. 00;48;48;06 - 00;48;57;00 Pete I wonder if what we saw, because sometimes they do this with the end credits scenes. Plus, I think they'll show a lot of when those are going to be coming out. So and we will have a special live show that night. So my biggest thought was I'm glad that the last episode pulled back to New York. And while I, I found the stuff that happened in Karachi very interesting, it was kind of the most boring stuff of the show. I thought it I thought it was it dragged on a little long. So did I say that, right? 00;53;36;10 - 00;53;37;19 Micah Karachi Yeah. 00;53;38;00 - 00;54;00;21 Pete Yeah, yeah. The so I really enjoyed this final episode. It brought it back to, you know, the teenage life that she had in New York, which was really what I was enjoying about the show and the interaction with their family and with their mosque and with their friends and everything like that. So last week I was saying I wasn't loving the show that much. 00;54;00;21 - 00;54;18;21 Pete I really enjoyed it a lot more with this final episode. And so those parts of it worked really well for me. And I wish the I wish the middle the middle part was a little tighter. I guess so. But that's that's my main thought for the last episode. 00;54;19;07 - 00;54;26;04 Derrick I mean, for me, this is two shows in a row that we've had that the last episode is what we all hope that the series would be. Oh yeah. 00;54;26;04 - 00;54;26;25 Pete I Obi Wan. 00;54;27;04 - 00;54;45;19 Derrick Obi Wan Yang turn it into Obi Wan. I think that and part of the reason is that people who directed the first episode, this is the only other episode they directed was the last episode. So it's almost like the middle stuff was a little bit no it was different was whatever because it just was where the last episode is. 00;54;45;19 - 00;54;59;13 Derrick I would again argue is probably the best episode of the series. Yeah, for sure. And again, guys, this is another one that could have been a movie instead of a series. So Kate. 00;55;00;14 - 00;55;39;08 Kate I enjoyed it. I think what I enjoyed most was just who Kamala is and the actress that portrayed her nailed it. I also love especially I feel like it was most prominent in the very first episode how they just the of it and how they like portraying cities and yeah just that was so brilliant how they did that I the just the cinematography and the choices made from a from a visual standpoint I loved that. 00;55;39;23 - 00;55;59;26 Kate Yeah. There were things that were hard to pick up if you aren't a die hard Marvel fan, even though I am a pretty big Marvel fan, especially since I've been working my way through the series. But like the mutant thing went over my head, other stuff kind of went over my head. That's what happens when you send emails. 00;56;00;07 - 00;56;16;14 Kate Well, also watching the show, but overall, I liked it. I don't know. I don't really know what I want to see from more in the future. I don't I don't have any I don't know. I don't have any big goals for the future. So, Myka. 00;56;17;25 - 00;56;28;22 Micah One of the things that I have to recognize with this show, I liked it, but I realize I am not the target audience. I'm a white male who's 40. My daughter, who is 16, this is the first Marvel show that she has watched with us that she stayed with. Like I've been trying to show the Marvel shows to my kids. My son is right there with me. My daughter takes maybe 10 minutes and is like, Yeah, I can go do something else. This one, she was like, boom, she was hooked. 00;56;53;13 - 00;56;56;17 Micah She was there. She watched them. She liked it. It's the. 00;56;56;17 - 00;56;57;26 Derrick Funniest thing. Think of it. 00;56;58;14 - 00;57;18;06 Micah He he didn't mind it, but it was my wife and my daughter that really they watched it and they enjoyed it in a way that I couldn't get them into other shows. So I think in some ways I recognize I'm not the right target audience for this one. And I think for the target audience that it was aiming for, it hit it. 00;57;18;06 - 00;57;41;04 Micah It hit the nail. Yeah. So I, I think I've enjoyed other shows more because like Moonlight that was more targeted towards guys like me, this one was targeted to young women and I think it was perfect for that. And it, the way it was filmed, the, the content, even the bad guys that there was less action and more relationship stuff. 00;57;41;12 - 00;57;45;23 Micah And my daughter loved that. So I think for its target audience, it worked. 00;57;46;25 - 00;58;01;18 Derrick And Nick says, always happy to see generations of strong women portrayed. Totally agree with that. Yeah. 00;58;06;04 - 00;58;06;12 Kate Go ahead. 00;58;06;24 - 00;58;16;13 Micah You can say I would give it a very close that three I would say three and a half just because I'm thinking about how it affected my fam. Not necessarily just me. Yeah. 00;58;17;12 - 00;58;36;03 Pete Yeah, I went back and I looked at how I rated the other series and I kind of put this in those rankings and it was right where I was thinking I was going to rate it, which is a 3.5. It's not it's not my favorite of of the series, but it's higher than a couple of them. So it's kind of in the middle. 00;58;36;03 - 00;58;53;08 Pete And I would definitely I would definitely revisit some of the episodes. As I said, I don't know about the ones in the middle, but I really enjoyed the first episode in the last episode a lot. And so I think that brought it up. I think if you had asked me last week, it would have been a lower rating, but this week it's a 3.5. 00;58;54;06 - 00;59;08;05 Derrick Derek and I agree that would last a week. It would have been a lower rating. I own apology to Loki. I didn't think other series could do this much talking and not do anything as it did. I guess it's a 1.5 for me. It was not a good. 00;59;08;05 - 00;59;08;26 Kate Oh. 00;59;09;25 - 00;59;16;01 Derrick Really. It was that I was that bored. It was that I never, never again. 00;59;16;11 - 00;59;18;23 Pete Now you made it at that rating. 00;59;18;26 - 00;59;26;05 Derrick And it's only a 1.5 because of the last episode. Otherwise it would have tied Loki at a one. So. 00;59;26;05 - 00;59;29;07 Micah Oh yeah. Now. Wow. 00;59;29;22 - 00;59;51;13 Derrick And Steve says he gives it a three. But next week we are the doctor strange in the multiverse of madness. Now, Pete, I have never I have seen exactly one Avengers movie, The Avengers, and I've seen the series we've talked about so far. What do I need to know for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? 00;59;52;01 - 01;00;16;17 Pete So I think this is not as bad as some movies in terms of what you need to know. But I just put together a little bit about two of the characters, which I think are most important. One of them is, of course, the lead character, Dr. Stephen Strange, in his original he's he's had five appearances before this in Marvel movies, though one of them was a very small role in Ragnarok. 01;00;17;13 - 01;00;38;01 Pete He started out as his role was he was a brilliant surgeon who was also, of course, very arrogant because aren't they all? And he was in love with Dr. Christine Palmer, but she broke up with him because of his arrogance. He gets into a bad car accident, which basically ruins his hands and he can no longer be a surgeon. 01;00;38;10 - 01;01;00;11 Pete And he goes through all this quest to find a cure and he ends up in car montage in Tibet where he learns the mystic arts from the ancient one. And in doing so, he becomes a powerful wizard and ends up saving the world a couple of times throughout his throughout the movies that he's in. But he's doesn't. 01;01;00;11 - 01;01;04;19 Derrick Sound like a whole lot like the Christian Bale Batman to anyone else. 01;01;04;19 - 01;01;12;22 Pete Uh, I don't think he's quite as arrogant as. As Steven Strange's. And of course, Batman doesn't have Batman doesn't. 01;01;12;22 - 01;01;13;01 Derrick Have any. 01;01;13;01 - 01;01;43;28 Pete Fewer powers. So, I mean, Stephen Strange is one of the more powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, I'd say. And the last time we saw him was dealing with Peter Parker and his friends in no way home. But honestly, you do not need to know anything about No Way Home for this movie, even though both deal with the multiverse, Wanda is probably the one that in that is harder to without knowing her backstory, this movie probably wouldn't make a lot of sense. 01;01;44;08 - 01;02;11;22 Pete Yeah, she has. She has been in six previous appearances, including, of course, Wandavision. She started out as a creation of Hydra with her and her brother, and she had originally had very telekinetic and telepathic powers. Her first major appearance, she was she was in a teaser at the end of, I think, Winter Soldier. She was just in like the teaser clip. 01;02;12;16 - 01;02;39;07 Pete But in Age of Ultron, she was initially a weapon of Hydra, but then she went to work. Her and her brother went to work from Ultron and she used her her mind control powers to kind of mess with all The Avengers. And it's interesting that that whole mind control thing, Mike, and maybe you can comment on this, that kind of dropped until I guess maybe wandavision she started controlling people's minds again, but they didn't really do much with the mind control. 01;02;39;07 - 01;03;14;25 Pete And what was more the the telekinesis. But then she ended up eventually switching sides to the Avengers when she found out Ultron wanted to kill all the humans and her and her brother fought with the Avengers and her brother is killed in by Ultron in that fight. And then later in Civil War, her actions create an accident that lead to the Sokovia Accords, which is basically a set of agreements which tried to control and monitor superpowered people. 01;03;15;26 - 01;03;33;12 Pete She also falls in love with vision, and then she has to essentially has to kill him in Infinity War. And then Thanos ends up bringing him back and killing him again. And then we next see her in Wandavision and in Dirk. You've seen Wandavision, so you're aware. 01;03;33;21 - 01;03;35;17 Derrick And I loved Wandavision. Yeah. 01;03;35;17 - 01;04;05;16 Pete So the important, the most important stuff from her for this movie came out of Wandavision, which is that in Wandavision she creates this world for herself. And in this world, vision is still alive. And also she has children, she has a family. And by the end of Wandavision, we see that she gives those things back up in order to basically release all these people that she has controlled and everything like that. 01;04;05;16 - 01;04;25;02 Pete And and I guess to defeat Agatha as well. But at the same time, she gets a hold of the Darkhold, which is a book of dark magic. And the last thing we see of Wanda at the end of Wandavision is her reading the Darkhold and hearing her children and of course. 01;04;25;08 - 01;04;27;00 Derrick Yelling for help. Yes. 01;04;27;00 - 01;04;33;10 Pete If this is going to be very important for for this movie. 01;04;33;23 - 01;04;38;08 Derrick Okay. So what do I need to know from what if for this movie, anything? 01;04;38;16 - 01;04;53;20 Pete Nothing. I'll be I mean, I'll be quite honest. There was an episode of What If with Doctor Strange and there were some episodes with Wanda. You do not need to see those. They really do not relate at all. I mean, there's there's similarities with that. 01;04;53;22 - 01;05;18;14 Micah There's a couple of characters that are in there. So like the one you're in the other universe and you see the captain, Britain, captain, Captain Carter. She's, she's in it. But you don't need to actually see it beforehand. There are other connections. Yeah. One connection that, you know, Marvel I think is downplaying is the Darkhold is one of the major plot points for agents of SHIELD. 01;05;18;14 - 01;05;21;21 Micah But we're not going to mention agents of Shield because they don't like it anymore. 01;05;21;29 - 01;05;28;02 Derrick But if you thought we didn't talk about Bruno, we really don't talk about Agents of Shield. Yeah. So, yeah, because. 01;05;28;20 - 01;05;58;20 Pete They got Inhumans, which we don't talk about and they got the Darkhold, which we don't talk about except now the. So you know, I saw so I already saw this movie. I think Derek and Kate, you haven't seen it yet, right? So, you know, we'll be talking about it next week. But so if anybody wants to anyone that hasn't seen the 100 and some hours of Marvel material that's out there, I think my summary is enough that you can step into this movie without too much trouble. 01;05;58;20 - 01;06;02;01 Derrick Because it's I'm going into this blind. You guys know how much I haven't seen. 01;06;02;07 - 01;06;25;11 Pete So there's there's very little I mean, it's again, it all connects kind of but I don't think again, I think the best thing is really wandavision. I think that's the most important thing. The rest of it is just kind of. Yeah, I mean, Doctor Strange is a powerful wizard and he does lots of magic by doing this. Whereas whereas Wanda does also does lots of magic by doing this. 01;06;27;22 - 01;06;28;19 Micah Kind of way. 01;06;30;01 - 01;06;54;16 Derrick So yeah, I'm not sure I go to look forward to it, but definitely going to be doing that next week.
