Show Notes

This week we're stepping into the Vault and looking at the 2006 Pixar movie Cars. We discuss if this is the best voice cast that Pixar has assembled. Does this movie have the best theme park tie-in of all Disney properties, even better than Star Wars in Galaxy's Edge? Does the movie hold up 16 years later? We talk about all of this, plus our Pixie Dust Ratings and the Disney+ news.

I like to call. You 00:02:58:15 - 00:03:01:16 know, if we were talking diecast cars, I go grab my sons 00:03:01:16 - 00:03:04:28 and we have literally all of the cars. 00:03:05:16 - 00:03:06:17 Vehicles. 00:03:06:19 - 00:03:11:14 Same except I gave a bunch of them away just a couple of months ago. 00:03:11:14 - 00:03:14:03 So we we don't have nearly as many as we used to. 00:03:14:03 - 00:03:17:21 We literally had every single character we had, we had. 00:03:17:21 - 00:03:20:22 So we went and did kind of a toy purge. 00:03:20:22 - 00:03:23:11 We got rid of a bunch of. Storage notes. Are for so. 00:03:23:12 - 00:03:28:04 Yeah we had we had a lot of cars and a lot of other cars like those diecast cars. 00:03:28:04 - 00:03:30:28 But we also had a lot of other cars, toys, okay. 00:03:30:29 - 00:03:34:26 And a lot of what's the the bad guy in cars three? 00:03:34:26 - 00:03:36:10 We had that that guy, too. 00:03:36:10 - 00:03:38:20 We got rid of me. This week. 00:04:05:08 - 00:04:08:19 Before we jump into Disney plus news, though, I would like it to be known that 00:04:08:19 - 00:04:11:23 the one toy that I always wanted to play 00:04:11:23 - 00:04:16:02 with and get into as a kid was Hot Wheels, cars. 00:04:16:13 - 00:04:19:12 And I never did because I was an only child. 00:04:19:12 - 00:04:21:11 And for some reason I never got Hot Wheels cars. 00:04:21:11 - 00:04:24:10 And also I did grow up a little bit 00:04:24:10 - 00:04:27:17 with NASCAR because Carl Edwards went to my high school. 00:04:27:17 - 00:04:29:06 So. Oh, that's cool. 00:04:29:06 - 00:04:30:14 I know. Pretty cool. 00:04:30:14 - 00:04:32:27 I ran into him in the hallway. It was weird. So. 00:07:42:00 - 00:07:44:01 At least last. 00:07:44:08 - 00:07:49:04 Disney has released the plot of all five I Am Groot episodes. 00:07:49:04 - 00:07:51:23 We are going to read them here, but they're out there 00:07:51:23 - 00:07:52:26 if you want to go looking for them. 00:07:52:26 - 00:07:56:16 We will be looking at the shorts when they premiere in a couple of weeks. 00:07:56:16 - 00:08:01:07 And if you want to make it really cute, the way that Casey and I met, 00:08:01:18 - 00:08:04:13 he was Star-Lord or was friends with Star-Lord 00:08:04:20 - 00:08:08:07 at Walt Disney World and I was friends with Baby Groot. I am Groot. 00:08:13:12 - 00:08:14:27 I will someday I'll. 00:08:14:27 - 00:08:17:24 Well, we'll post on the plus splatoon Instagram 00:08:18:05 - 00:08:20:07 and we'll post a picture of it's cute. 00:08:20:07 - 00:08:22:20 But anyway, that's it for the Disney Plus News. 00:08:23:25 - 00:08:26:11 Well, thank you, Miss Kate. 00:08:26:13 - 00:08:29:06 Kate, this week we are diving back into the vault. 00:08:29:06 - 00:08:33:25 We're going back to 2006 with the release of the original cards. 00:08:35:05 - 00:08:36:21 This is a long time ago, you guys. 00:08:36:21 - 00:08:39:01 It was a long time ago, but I thought it was actually older than that. 00:08:39:11 - 00:08:41:06 In a galaxy far, far. Away. 00:08:41:06 - 00:08:43:08 No wrong series, wrong theory. 00:08:44:12 - 00:08:47:04 Oh, we're not doing Marvel or Star Wars this week. 00:08:47:04 - 00:08:47:20 I'm really. 00:08:47:20 - 00:08:51:10 Confused. 00:08:51:10 - 00:08:53:14 The return to sanity. 00:08:53:14 - 00:08:54:07 The return to. 00:08:54:07 - 00:08:58:07 Doing something that actually sells more merchandise than those no. 00:08:58:07 - 00:09:00:19 But yeah, I marvel. At the time. 00:09:00:19 - 00:09:01:16 It probably did. 00:09:01:16 - 00:09:03:28 Yeah. Yeah, they. Did sell a. Lot. Yeah. 00:09:04:18 - 00:09:07:00 So cars. 00:09:07:00 - 00:09:08:29 Cars, it follows the career. 00:09:08:29 - 00:09:12:12 The story of Lightning McQueen is going for the Piston Cup championship 00:09:13:04 - 00:09:16:06 and he is in his last 00:09:16:16 - 00:09:20:13 it's the last race of the season at what has been dubbed Motor 00:09:20:13 - 00:09:23:06 Speedway of the South for any racing fans 00:09:23:14 - 00:09:27:29 is basically Bristol Motor Speedway, which is a half mile concrete. 00:09:27:29 - 00:09:29:01 It's known for its wrecks. 00:09:29:01 - 00:09:33:02 It's known for having stands almost to the sky mean 00:09:35:16 - 00:09:37:06 he decides that 00:09:37:06 - 00:09:41:12 he has now fired his third crew chief of the year and he can work alone. 00:09:41:17 - 00:09:43:25 So his crew he's a prima donna. 00:09:43:29 - 00:09:45:13 He's a prima donna. 00:09:45:13 - 00:09:46:18 To the highest level. 00:09:46:18 - 00:09:48:01 Yeah, for sure. 00:09:48:23 - 00:09:50:13 So he ends up deciding that 00:09:50:13 - 00:09:53:20 he knows better than everything else he's going to win by a long ways. 00:09:53:20 - 00:09:56:00 Last lap blows, two tires. 00:09:56:12 - 00:09:58:17 The last lap ends up in a tie between him. 00:09:59:00 - 00:09:59:10 Excuse me? 00:09:59:10 - 00:10:01:25 Between he and the king and Chick Hicks. 00:10:02:16 - 00:10:03:20 The King in this one, actually. 00:10:03:20 - 00:10:04:19 And we're going to get in a voice time 00:10:04:19 - 00:10:08:10 and a little later is actually voiced by the King, Richard Petty. 00:10:08:22 - 00:10:12:15 So for NASCAR fans out there, you say the king 00:10:12:15 - 00:10:14:25 there wasn't really anyone else that he could have had voice it. 00:10:14:25 - 00:10:16:17 But Richard Petty. 00:10:16:17 - 00:10:20:03 So it's going to be a tie and they're going to have a tiebreaker 00:10:20:06 - 00:10:23:29 race in one week in California because it doesn't make you know, 00:10:24:01 - 00:10:28:24 it makes too much sense to have them actually just do it in the same stadium. 00:10:28:24 - 00:10:34:16 Eight And as you mentioned, Carl Edwards, as he found out, in reality, there are 00:10:34:16 - 00:10:39:01 tiebreaker scenarios for championships and it would not have gone extra. 00:10:39:09 - 00:10:43:01 But that is neither here nor there. 00:10:43:01 - 00:10:46:09 And and lightning are going to race across because since the king 00:10:46:09 - 00:10:49:23 is retiring, DiMarco, the sponsor, is up for grabs. 00:10:49:23 - 00:10:53:15 And the first one to get California gets to stay with Danica, gets to talk to 00:10:53:16 - 00:10:54:14 Daniel first. 00:10:55:16 - 00:10:57:17 And so they go. 00:10:57:17 - 00:10:59:13 Lightning wants to race across the country. 00:10:59:13 - 00:11:02:23 His truck hauler, Mack, hauls him all the way 00:11:02:23 - 00:11:06:01 across, is hauling him across the country and says, no, don't stop, don't stop. 00:11:06:01 - 00:11:07:23 I'll stay up with you all night. 00:11:07:23 - 00:11:08:26 Mack Bolt. 00:11:08:26 - 00:11:11:02 Lightning falls asleep. Matt drifts off. 00:11:11:17 - 00:11:16:09 Lightning gets dumped out of the trailer and ends up 00:11:16:09 - 00:11:20:10 following the wrong truck to Radiator Springs. 00:11:21:03 - 00:11:24:22 And because he doesn't have any lights, he only has stickers for lights. 00:11:25:07 - 00:11:26:22 Oh, come. On, you ruined. The joke. 00:11:26:22 - 00:11:27:24 You know, the 00:11:28:08 - 00:11:32:23 crack is always lit. So. 00:11:33:01 - 00:11:35:21 And that includes a great cameo by 00:11:36:26 - 00:11:38:25 clicking Clack The Tablet Brothers 00:11:38:25 - 00:11:42:27 as the two cars that are his sponsors. 00:11:43:03 - 00:11:45:19 Yeah. Dusty and rusty. Yes. 00:11:45:19 - 00:11:48:07 And so ends up in Radiator Springs, ends up 00:11:48:07 - 00:11:52:10 tearing up the town, panics and gets arrested. 00:11:52:10 - 00:11:55:28 We have now arrived in 82 springs and guys, this is a great place 00:11:55:28 - 00:11:58:24 to talk about all the different voice talents in this movie 00:11:58:29 - 00:12:01:14 because there are some amazing 00:12:01:27 - 00:12:05:04 voice talents in the movie. 00:12:05:04 - 00:12:08:06 First we have Lightning McQueen is Owen Wilson, 00:12:08:13 - 00:12:11:16 which guys is brings up and this brings up an interesting point. 00:12:11:29 - 00:12:14:18 Is this one of the multiverses you've got. 00:12:16:21 - 00:12:18:09 Is the voice crush. 00:12:18:09 - 00:12:21:03 He you know, he is in Loki. No. 00:13:39:05 - 00:13:40:12 I love 00:13:40:12 - 00:13:44:24 everything about Mater, you know, it's like tow mater, 00:13:44:24 - 00:13:48:18 except without the toe, like, 00:13:48:18 - 00:13:51:28 he is such a lovable character. 00:13:53:21 - 00:13:55:03 Everything about him 00:13:55:03 - 00:14:00:28 to me, he makes the movie and I've always wanted to dove 00:14:00:28 - 00:14:06:12 a little bit deeper into Larry the Cable Guy and find out if that is an act 00:14:06:13 - 00:14:09:12 or if that is really I don't know. 00:14:10:28 - 00:14:13:00 Like a lot of it is an act. 00:14:13:07 - 00:14:14:13 Almost. It's an act. 00:14:14:13 - 00:14:17:04 Yeah. It's just it's just comedy act. Really. Sure. 00:14:17:07 - 00:14:19:15 And nuts. And it. Works. It makes sense. 00:14:20:10 - 00:14:24:16 So in my opinion, 00:14:25:09 - 00:14:29:21 he mater is what makes this movie mater. 00:14:30:02 - 00:14:33:10 While I love Owen Wilson, Owen Wilson can read me the phone. 00:14:33:13 - 00:14:36:26 Notes for. Him. Great. And strawberries. 00:14:36:26 - 00:14:40:14 But I just mater. 00:14:40:14 - 00:14:42:01 Is it for me? Larry the cable guy. 00:14:42:01 - 00:14:44:17 Pete, what are you who's who are you going with? 00:14:44:17 - 00:14:45:19 Who you've got? 00:14:45:19 - 00:14:47:15 Probably the next one we've got on our list. 00:14:48:18 - 00:14:51:01 And we just lost Pete 00:14:52:05 - 00:14:53:07 the next. Yeah. 00:14:53:07 - 00:14:58:09 First we have on the list is doc Hudson, voiced by the legendary Paul Newman. 00:14:58:17 - 00:14:59:19 Yep. Paul Newman. 00:14:59:19 - 00:15:01:00 And the reason part of the reason 00:15:01:00 - 00:15:04:25 this really fits for Paul Newman, he is a racecar driver. 00:15:04:25 - 00:15:09:14 He Dryden's or excuse me drover sports cars. 00:15:09:14 - 00:15:12:06 He drove all sorts of different race cars. 00:15:12:06 - 00:15:16:10 He actually drove at 24 hour Lamar, which is a big sports car race. 00:15:16:27 - 00:15:18:28 So him being in this movie. 00:15:18:28 - 00:15:20:28 Yes, not only is he a legendary voice, 00:15:21:09 - 00:15:25:08 but he is truly a actually a race car driver. 00:15:25:16 - 00:15:28:11 So that's actually how I know him. 00:15:28:18 - 00:15:31:22 And this was actually this was one of the last things 00:15:31:22 - 00:15:37:02 that Paul Newman did, because by the time we get to cars to he's gone, 00:15:37:25 - 00:15:40:03 Paul Newman has passed away by that point 00:15:40:03 - 00:15:42:20 and so actually has Doc. So 00:15:43:24 - 00:15:45:08 right next we. 00:15:45:08 - 00:15:47:17 Have we get to. Talk about the comedians, though, you guys. 00:15:47:19 - 00:15:49:10 Yeah, we got to hit the comedians. 00:15:49:10 - 00:15:49:23 Comedians. 00:15:49:23 - 00:15:54:05 We've got probably one of my one of the cleanest 00:15:54:13 - 00:15:57:22 things that George Carlin has ever done before. 00:15:58:07 - 00:16:01:12 There are none of the seven words you can't say on television included. 00:16:02:15 - 00:16:05:12 And this is actually one of the last performances 00:16:05:15 - 00:16:07:28 he did as well before he passed away. 00:16:08:16 - 00:16:11:10 So we've got George Carlin, just Fillmore 00:16:11:10 - 00:16:13:28 pulling in basically his hippie dippy weather piano. 00:16:14:00 - 00:16:17:01 Right. I mean, he's 00:17:30:19 - 00:17:34:07 basically everything he touches turns to comedy gold, in my opinion. 00:17:34:14 - 00:17:36:21 He's also in the Black Series as. 00:17:36:22 - 00:17:38:07 That's right, yes. 00:17:38:07 - 00:17:40:25 So he's just he's a fantastic actor. 00:17:41:03 - 00:17:47:04 He does this wonderful, kind of silly Italian accent in in the Cars films. 00:17:47:04 - 00:17:49:01 And it's it's just great. 00:17:49:01 - 00:17:53:12 Another character who I who I love is Mac, who is, 00:17:53:19 - 00:17:56:22 of course, the Mack truck that Derek was talking about earlier, 00:17:57:01 - 00:18:01:12 that Lightning McQueen is supposed to be sort of traveled around in. 00:18:01:27 - 00:18:04:19 And that voice actor is John Ratzenberger. 00:18:04:20 - 00:18:08:01 Now, most of us know him as Cliff Clavin from Cheers. 00:18:08:01 - 00:18:10:08 That might be a little bit older. 00:18:10:08 - 00:18:11:19 People know who I was even seeing. 00:18:11:19 - 00:18:15:16 That might be a little bit early for Kate, but apparently she knows it from my. 00:18:16:08 - 00:18:18:02 Mom and I used to watch Cheers all the time. 00:18:18:02 - 00:18:18:27 There you go. 00:18:18:27 - 00:18:23:08 So, yeah, I mean, he's also a great character, great voice. 00:18:23:08 - 00:18:28:18 He actually does a ton of animation voices because he's got a real distinct, 00:18:28:18 - 00:18:31:17 great voice, actor voice, I'm going to say. 00:18:31:25 - 00:18:36:15 So yeah, we have just a fantastic voice talent in this movie. 00:18:36:25 - 00:18:40:24 And then I know Derek's wants to talk about some car racing personalities. 00:18:40:24 - 00:18:43:06 Oh, I would say, Pete, you've got the other character 00:18:43:06 - 00:18:45:05 in, like in Radiator Springs. 00:18:45:05 - 00:18:46:16 We've got Lizzie. 00:18:46:16 - 00:18:46:29 Yeah. 00:18:46:29 - 00:18:48:09 So I hear 00:18:48:09 - 00:18:51:29 she doesn't have a very big role, so I think she has about six lines in the 00:18:51:29 - 00:18:52:20 entire movie. 00:18:52:20 - 00:18:57:21 But that's Katherine Hellman, who people probably of our age 00:18:57:21 - 00:19:01:20 group most know from as the the grandma and who's the boss. 00:19:02:25 - 00:19:04:03 She was also on 00:19:04:03 - 00:19:07:22 her back in the seventies, and she's done a number of other things. 00:19:07:22 - 00:19:10:07 And isn't that Mona the mother? 00:19:10:08 - 00:19:12:12 Mona is the name of the character, correct? Yeah. 00:19:12:17 - 00:19:15:22 And she is like every line 00:19:15:22 - 00:19:18:23 in this movie that she's does is funny. 00:19:18:23 - 00:19:20:10 It's really great. 00:19:20:10 - 00:19:25:08 And then I'm also going to give a shout out to two very recognizable voices. 00:19:25:08 - 00:19:27:05 But most people don't know the actor's name. 00:19:27:05 - 00:19:31:25 But Edie MCCLURG and Richard kind of play the 00:19:32:05 - 00:19:35:00 the two cars that get lost and come through town. 00:19:35:00 - 00:19:36:06 And lightning's like 00:19:36:06 - 00:19:39:01 trying to convince him he's being kidnaped and all this crazy stuff 00:19:39:01 - 00:19:41:07 is going on in there, and they're like, just keep. 00:19:41:07 - 00:19:42:24 Driving, honey. 00:19:43:16 - 00:19:44:21 I love that scene. 00:19:44:21 - 00:19:47:19 And and Richard Cain is actually 00:19:48:12 - 00:19:53:03 in a bunch of other Pixar movies, including he is Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang. 00:19:53:19 - 00:19:55:21 Is coming along. 00:19:55:21 - 00:19:57:06 Oh, don't make me cry. 00:19:57:06 - 00:19:59:04 He lets not cry. 00:19:59:04 - 00:20:01:06 Let's not cry about being long. 00:20:01:06 - 00:20:01:27 Not cry, baby. 00:20:01:27 - 00:20:04:08 My time is untimely passing. 00:20:04:14 - 00:20:07:14 Yeah. All right. So as Sam mentioned, yes? 00:20:07:26 - 00:20:10:27 Do you want to talk about some of the different car and racing personalities? 00:20:10:27 - 00:20:16:22 Because they take many, many individuals from auto race, the auto racing community, 00:20:16:22 - 00:20:20:04 and bring them into this story, which to me boosts 00:20:20:08 - 00:20:23:00 the repeatability of this movie. 00:20:23:18 - 00:20:24:29 Gives us some street cred. 00:20:24:29 - 00:20:26:22 And we've already talked about clicking clack. 00:20:26:22 - 00:20:29:11 They do that. They did the car talk show on NPR. 00:20:29:19 - 00:20:33:19 We've talked about Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Jr shows up. 00:20:33:19 - 00:20:36:26 He was announced he was NASCAR's most popular driver for years. 00:20:37:28 - 00:20:40:20 We have Andretti, isn't it Mario Andretti? 00:20:40:20 - 00:20:42:06 We've got Michael Schumacher, 00:20:42:06 - 00:20:46:03 who are four, who are Formula former Formula One racers. 00:20:46:03 - 00:20:51:19 They are the the Michael Schumacher drives the Ferrari that you know. 00:20:52:04 - 00:20:56:23 Yes. His his son actually currently his son currently drives F1 as well. 00:20:56:27 - 00:20:59:14 He does. Mick Schumacher. Michael. Yeah. 00:20:59:27 - 00:21:04:03 I know because I watch that Formula One series that's on another 00:21:04:04 - 00:21:07:09 streaming series that a streaming platform we won't talk about. 00:21:08:06 - 00:21:09:15 It's like we don't talk about Bruno. 00:21:09:15 - 00:21:11:21 We don't talk about Netflix. All right. 00:21:11:21 - 00:21:12:16 You said it. 00:21:12:17 - 00:21:13:24 Oh, you play it. 00:21:13:24 - 00:21:16:01 Oh, oh, 00:21:16:04 - 00:21:17:23 wrong show. Sorry. 00:21:17:23 - 00:21:22:06 Then we had as the sportscasters, we've got Bob Costas. 00:21:22:07 - 00:21:23:05 Say it again. 00:21:23:05 - 00:21:27:28 We've got Bob Costas as who was probably one of the most recognizable voices, 00:21:27:28 - 00:21:31:25 as did the Olympics for years, the NBC stuff for years. 00:21:32:07 - 00:21:35:11 And we've got Darrell Waltrip, who is not only a racecar driver, 00:21:35:23 - 00:21:39:25 but at the time was also a NASCAR commentator 00:21:39:25 - 00:21:43:08 for the for Fox Sports when they were doing the show. 00:21:43:08 - 00:21:48:01 So got all sorts of car racing, personalities, drivers, 00:21:48:01 - 00:21:50:25 and there's many, many others involved that I'm not going to mention 00:21:50:25 - 00:21:53:04 because the list, literally I could go on for ten, 00:21:53:04 - 00:21:56:11 15 minutes about all the different car racers that are in this race. 00:21:57:09 - 00:22:02:25 But we also have to talk about the incomparable Joe Ramp, 00:22:02:25 - 00:22:06:19 because not only was he the voice of red, the fire truck 00:22:07:26 - 00:22:09:08 in this, 00:22:09:08 - 00:22:12:01 which I think his grand total of talking is him 00:22:12:10 - 00:22:14:16 starting breaking down into tears and crying. 00:22:16:07 - 00:22:18:07 He was also Heimlich. 00:22:18:07 - 00:22:20:26 He was jock the shrimp in Toy Story. 00:22:20:26 - 00:22:24:03 He was both Lenny and Weezy. 00:22:24:03 - 00:22:26:03 He obsessed with Weezy, by the way. 00:22:26:03 - 00:22:27:13 Obsessed. 00:22:27:13 - 00:22:28:29 He also co-wrote this movie. 00:22:28:29 - 00:22:30:13 He co-wrote this movie. 00:22:30:13 - 00:22:35:19 He got writing credits on Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver and Company. 00:22:35:19 - 00:22:36:23 He actually wrote, 00:22:36:23 - 00:22:39:27 okay, it's not a Disney movie per se, but anyone remember the brave little toaster? 00:22:40:08 - 00:22:41:27 Oh, my God. 00:22:41:27 - 00:22:44:08 How could you forget the brave little toaster? 00:22:44:21 - 00:22:47:22 Sequels are on Disney plus, but the original is not. 00:22:48:01 - 00:22:50:22 What. Hopefully I didn't mention. 00:22:51:01 - 00:22:51:19 Which is don't. 00:22:51:19 - 00:22:53:22 Worry, it'll be on Disney plus soon. 00:22:53:22 - 00:22:55:16 I mean, Anastasia's on there now. 00:22:55:16 - 00:22:58:07 I mean. Disney owns everything. 00:22:58:07 - 00:22:59:01 He wrote that one. 00:22:59:01 - 00:23:02:14 He wrote Rescuers Down Under that we've talked about. 00:23:02:14 - 00:23:04:18 He wrote Toy Story that we've talked about. 00:23:05:06 - 00:23:06:18 He wrote Bug's Life. 00:23:06:18 - 00:23:11:04 So this was the last thing that he appeared in for Disney 00:23:11:06 - 00:23:14:07 because he passed away actually in 2005 before this came out. 00:23:14:27 - 00:23:17:22 But he was the driving force 00:23:17:22 - 00:23:21:18 behind this movie and so many other classic Disney movies. 00:23:21:28 - 00:23:23:22 As guys, we've talked about a lot of names. 00:23:23:22 - 00:23:25:14 We've talked about a lot of things. 00:23:25:14 - 00:23:27:25 I'm going to start with you on this one. 00:23:28:02 - 00:23:31:04 Is this cast the best voice 00:23:31:04 - 00:23:34:14 talent in Pixar? Wow. 00:23:34:14 - 00:23:39:26 It's hard to argue against that because like we named all these names 00:23:39:26 - 00:23:44:09 and you totally no one mentioned Michael Keaton, who was psychics. 00:23:44:16 - 00:23:46:07 Psychics. Yeah. And 00:23:47:17 - 00:23:50:16 so I think I think there's definitely that argument. 00:23:50:16 - 00:23:55:18 I would maybe say that Bug's Life has a better voice cast because, 00:23:55:19 - 00:23:58:14 oh, my God, there's so many people in that movie that I love. 00:24:00:03 - 00:24:03:27 Julie Louis-Dreyfus and 00:24:05:04 - 00:24:08:22 Bonnie Hunt in that. 00:24:08:22 - 00:24:10:02 David and. 00:24:10:02 - 00:24:10:25 David. 00:24:10:28 - 00:24:13:19 No, devastated. 00:24:13:19 - 00:24:14:05 Yeah. 00:24:15:07 - 00:24:16:15 It's David Spade in there. 00:24:16:15 - 00:24:18:19 And so he's he's flaky, isn't he? 00:24:19:12 - 00:24:20:29 No, no, that's 00:24:22:10 - 00:24:24:18 it's you know, I had I had this up and I scrolled 00:24:24:18 - 00:24:29:18 across it notes the guy from the town hall, David Foley. 00:24:29:25 - 00:24:30:11 It was. 00:24:30:24 - 00:24:31:10 Yeah. 00:24:31:16 - 00:24:32:14 David Foley's in there. 00:24:32:14 - 00:24:34:25 Denis Leary Leary's in there. David Hyde Pierce. 00:24:35:03 - 00:24:36:07 Madeline Kahn is. 00:24:36:07 - 00:24:39:08 Amazing. Brad. 00:24:39:16 - 00:24:40:25 Brad Garrett is in there. 00:24:40:25 - 00:24:43:07 Phyllis Diller, Roddy McDowall. 00:24:43:22 - 00:24:44:16 Lately. 00:24:45:04 - 00:24:47:06 And it does also have Richard Kind 00:24:47:06 - 00:24:50:18 and Eddie McClure and John Ratzenberger in that movie as well. 00:24:50:24 - 00:24:53:22 It does, though. 00:24:53:22 - 00:24:55:11 But is this okay? 00:24:55:11 - 00:24:57:14 Is this better than Bug's Life? It stars the voice cast. 00:24:58:17 - 00:25:01:22 So I'm going to I'm going to give it to Bug's Life myself. 00:25:01:22 - 00:25:04:07 I don't know what the rest of the group thinks, but this is an Emmy. 00:25:04:08 - 00:25:08:11 This is this is really an amazing cast as well, though. 00:25:08:11 - 00:25:11:25 So it's it's really a it's really a hard one to call. 00:25:11:25 - 00:25:14:03 I think there's certainly an argument for this. 00:25:14:03 - 00:25:21:01 A lot of very excellent actors and let's say very well cast as well. 00:25:21:01 - 00:25:25:04 I think, you know, there's no no missteps in this cast. 00:25:25:23 - 00:25:27:02 No missteps would. 00:25:27:02 - 00:25:28:08 Definitely repeat. 00:25:28:08 - 00:25:30:22 Even, you know, I love Mater. 00:25:31:18 - 00:25:33:23 I'm not a fan of Larry the cable cable 00:25:33:23 - 00:25:37:21 guy's comedy act, but he is perfect as mater. 00:25:37:21 - 00:25:41:17 And, you know, I think that I think that role, 00:25:41:25 - 00:25:45:09 you know, has probably done more for him then, I think than anything else, 00:25:45:09 - 00:25:47:03 even though he was already famous before that. 00:25:47:03 - 00:25:49:11 But, you know, and I 00:25:50:22 - 00:25:52:03 you know, I don't know. 00:25:52:03 - 00:25:53:23 It's hard to say what it was. The real thing. 00:25:53:23 - 00:25:55:08 Is this the best cast in your mind? 00:25:55:08 - 00:25:57:26 Is there any other one that compares to me? 00:25:57:26 - 00:26:01:06 To me, the fact that they've pulled in so many individuals from the racing 00:26:01:06 - 00:26:06:07 community, this is the best voice cast and cast in Pixar because they pulled 00:26:06:07 - 00:26:09:29 in all of those outside people who in addition to all the people, 00:26:09:29 - 00:26:14:29 you know, if you're a race car fan, you also know all of those people. 00:26:14:29 - 00:26:16:07 And that's what makes it so neat. 00:26:16:07 - 00:26:18:12 If you're a race car thing in 2060. 00:26:18:12 - 00:26:21:04 They did bring in a lot of bugs for Bug's Life, though. 00:26:22:07 - 00:26:24:23 Mel Blanc wasn't in this. 00:26:25:07 - 00:26:26:07 At. That bugs. 00:26:26:07 - 00:26:27:05 Not that bugs. 00:26:27:05 - 00:26:29:07 Kate, what's your thought? You were shaking your head. 00:26:29:16 - 00:26:32:12 What's better? Toy Story. Really? Story. 00:26:32:15 - 00:26:33:11 I just I. 00:26:33:11 - 00:26:35:11 Only the leads into a story are really. 00:26:35:13 - 00:26:36:29 How the small. 00:26:36:29 - 00:26:37:19 Stig files. 00:26:37:19 - 00:26:40:21 First of all, why am I just now finding out that Eric 00:26:40:21 - 00:26:43:16 von Denton was the voice of Sid? 00:26:43:22 - 00:26:46:23 I'm a little upset that this movie no way out. 00:26:46:23 - 00:26:50:04 You know. It's 1995. And I could never. 00:26:51:06 - 00:26:51:19 That my 00:26:51:19 - 00:26:55:19 crush Eric von Denton was the voice of said it's fine 00:26:55:26 - 00:26:59:13 but you've also I mean there's oh my God Don Rickles is Mr. 00:26:59:13 - 00:27:02:08 Potato Head like there's it's so. 00:27:02:15 - 00:27:02:29 It's all. 00:27:02:29 - 00:27:05:15 Sean. Connery part was Bo peep like. 00:27:05:16 - 00:27:06:15 Parts yeah. 00:27:06:15 - 00:27:11:04 Now you've even got Penn from Penn and Teller was a TV announcer out there. 00:27:11:04 - 00:27:13:16 So John Ratzenberger was Hamm. 00:27:13:21 - 00:27:16:24 John Ratzenberger I will say I have been sitting here 00:27:17:22 - 00:27:22:03 thinking, okay, now don't get me wrong cards is a great cast and I will give it 00:27:22:09 - 00:27:27:15 to what Derek is saying, that bringing in racers like that's dope, 00:27:27:15 - 00:27:32:25 that's smart, this dope, that's a good casting call and Cards is up there. 00:27:32:25 - 00:27:36:27 But in my opinion, and I also have to be honest with myself that 00:27:37:27 - 00:27:40:10 top cars didn't hit home for me. 00:27:40:10 - 00:27:43:04 And we will talk about this in a minute, but 00:27:45:01 - 00:27:50:07 Toy Story is the superior movie to me 00:27:50:17 - 00:27:54:19 and it's in so its voice cast like I just can't 00:27:55:20 - 00:27:57:11 listen. We're talking voice cast. 00:27:57:11 - 00:27:59:27 So I'm going to have to disagree with my girl Kate 00:28:00:13 - 00:28:04:21 right above me and tell you to just sit there and be wrong and you're wrong. 00:28:04:21 - 00:28:08:09 This Toy Story is a fantastic, fantastic movie. 00:28:08:13 - 00:28:08:27 With a. 00:28:08:27 - 00:28:12:06 Very slick with a fantastic voice cast as well. 00:28:12:06 - 00:28:13:18 And we'll agree with you. 00:28:13:18 - 00:28:16:13 A superior movie overall to cars, 00:28:16:25 - 00:28:21:01 but Cars wins on voice cast, I think hands down. 00:28:21:10 - 00:28:26:25 I mean, you have just an amazing array of of actors and comedians 00:28:26:25 - 00:28:30:14 and comedic actors and car racing personalities. 00:28:30:19 - 00:28:35:10 And I mean, the fact that they brought Tom and Ray from NPR's car talk, 00:28:35:29 - 00:28:39:06 the fact that they get junior Dale Earnhardt Jr 00:28:39:06 - 00:28:44:03 on, you know, in this movie for like a cameo for a voice cameo. 00:28:44:03 - 00:28:46:13 I mean, it is just incredible. 00:28:46:13 - 00:28:50:13 And then you have the comedic genius of George Carlin, Cheech Marin, 00:28:50:29 - 00:28:55:21 Tony Shalhoub, John Ratzenberger, and you get Larry the cable guy is Mater. 00:28:55:21 - 00:28:59:13 I mean, I just can't it just does not get better. 00:28:59:18 - 00:29:03:19 Now, I would have to say also, A Bug's Life has a great voice cast, 00:29:03:19 - 00:29:07:29 but this one is a superior voice cast and you have a lot of crossover 00:29:07:29 - 00:29:11:04 if you notice from this cast to those other Pixar movies. 00:29:11:04 - 00:29:14:07 So yes, those have great actors in it too, but 00:29:14:07 - 00:29:16:16 this has the whole array. 00:29:17:07 - 00:29:20:02 Plus, you get all these racing people, I will say 00:29:21:00 - 00:29:25:07 in cars three, Junior Johnson has a small voice role as well. 00:29:25:18 - 00:29:30:00 And for anyone who knows about moonshine and moonshine running in the South, 00:29:30:24 - 00:29:34:25 that is a that is a huge get for that movie. 00:29:34:25 - 00:29:37:05 Of course, that's Cars three, not Cars the original. 00:29:37:05 - 00:29:41:08 But it was just brilliant the way that they brought together 00:29:41:08 - 00:29:44:25 all of these amazing actors and racing personalities. 00:29:44:26 - 00:29:45:24 It's fair. 00:29:45:24 - 00:29:48:24 And I will say that to me as I was watching this, 00:29:48:24 - 00:29:50:18 I go, okay, that's George Carlin. 00:29:50:18 - 00:29:52:07 Ooh, that's Cheech Marin. 00:29:52:07 - 00:29:54:12 I didn't do that with A Bug's Life. 00:29:55:19 - 00:29:57:17 Oh, that's that's that's this person. 00:29:57:17 - 00:29:59:22 Which makes me think the cast 00:30:00:25 - 00:30:03:09 now, that may mean the story doesn't hold up as well, whatever. 00:30:03:13 - 00:30:07:00 But the cast to me is the better voice talent. 00:30:07:12 - 00:30:09:25 So, okay, so we have arrived 00:30:10:01 - 00:30:13:05 in Radiator Springs, Lightning goes on trial in front. 00:30:13:06 - 00:30:14:02 Not quite yet. 00:30:14:02 - 00:30:18:04 Jena Lightning has gone on trial in front of dock 00:30:18:12 - 00:30:21:12 and originally is found instead because doctors wants to. 00:30:21:12 - 00:30:23:09 He's a race car, get him out of here. 00:30:23:09 - 00:30:26:24 And Sally shows up and convinces Doc to make him fix the road, 00:30:27:28 - 00:30:28:28 which 00:30:29:22 - 00:30:34:14 eventually, you know, he does begrudgingly he starts it in and doctor 00:30:34:15 - 00:30:38:04 he says, okay, you beat me in a race and I will do it. 00:30:38:13 - 00:30:41:05 You know, I will fix it and you can leave. 00:30:41:05 - 00:30:42:27 Awesome, cool. Whatever. 00:30:42:27 - 00:30:47:18 Well, the race is on dirt and they go up, they go around, and when lightning tries 00:30:47:18 - 00:30:51:27 to turn left, he goes straight off a cliff and a cactus falls on him. 00:30:51:27 - 00:30:54:19 One of the funnier one timers in the movie. 00:30:55:28 - 00:30:57:13 You got to turn left to go. 00:30:57:13 - 00:30:59:27 Right? Right. 00:30:59:27 - 00:31:02:22 I as you would as you can also see 00:31:02:22 - 00:31:07:21 in the test track ride, it's turn right to go left. 00:31:07:29 - 00:31:08:22 Right to go. 00:31:08:22 - 00:31:09:10 That's right. 00:31:09:10 - 00:31:10:11 That's right. 00:31:10:11 - 00:31:14:13 That is the inferior rides. Yes. 00:31:14:22 - 00:31:15:20 But in the test track 00:31:15:20 - 00:31:19:07 there is a in the streets in the signs we know you're weaving back and forth. 00:31:19:14 - 00:31:21:19 There's time there that says turn right to go left. 00:31:22:07 - 00:31:23:10 I did notice that. 00:31:23:10 - 00:31:26:14 I did notice that just a couple of weeks ago when I was there. 00:31:27:20 - 00:31:30:23 So Doc wins the race because lightning can't turn on dirt 00:31:32:12 - 00:31:33:26 and lightning eventually 00:31:33:26 - 00:31:37:22 begins to slowly come to terms with 00:31:37:29 - 00:31:42:02 actually starting to kind of like some of the people he befriends. 00:31:42:02 - 00:31:43:08 Mater 00:31:43:21 - 00:31:46:23 does one of the whole acts like he is actually his friend 00:31:46:23 - 00:31:48:22 when he doesn't really care what Mater thinks will 00:31:48:22 - 00:31:52:07 Mater is hanging on his every word Sally calls them on it 00:31:53:14 - 00:31:55:17 comes to like Sally. 00:31:55:17 - 00:32:00:13 They end up going for a drive, which for those of you who have been to 00:32:01:00 - 00:32:04:18 cars, land the drive in really and we'll talk about this in driving 00:32:04:18 - 00:32:08:23 radiator springs racers is you going over you going around 00:32:08:23 - 00:32:10:16 you go through and then you come out that tunnel 00:32:10:16 - 00:32:12:27 and there's the waterfall like just like it is from the ride. 00:32:13:27 - 00:32:18:10 And then eventually he helps 00:32:18:17 - 00:32:22:26 fix up the town, he helps fix up the the neon, he helps fix up. 00:32:23:02 - 00:32:24:06 Repaved. The. 00:32:24:06 - 00:32:28:07 Road, gets completely redone and he's got friends 00:32:28:07 - 00:32:30:17 for the first time in his life because one of the things from the first 00:32:31:09 - 00:32:33:17 when he's heading out to California is you've got 20 tickets 00:32:33:17 - 00:32:35:21 to give to your friends and he can think of nobody. 00:32:36:18 - 00:32:38:02 Or now. If 00:32:39:08 - 00:32:41:22 it. And and to me 00:32:41:22 - 00:32:43:03 this is the 00:32:43:03 - 00:32:46:13 the this I'm getting ahead of myself probably on what I'm thinking this move 00:32:46:21 - 00:32:50:29 but this is the genius of this movie is because it's a movie about a race car. 00:32:51:19 - 00:32:56:09 But the lesson of the movie is to learn to slow down 00:32:56:09 - 00:33:00:19 and appreciate what you have and appreciate your friends. 00:33:01:07 - 00:33:04:18 And it's it's to me, done so 00:33:04:18 - 00:33:08:22 well that I just, you know, it kind of gets me 00:33:08:22 - 00:33:12:26 every time I watch this movie how how well that story is. 00:33:13:02 - 00:33:18:10 And part of that really came from 00:33:21:06 - 00:33:22:07 Shoot Mountain. 00:33:22:07 - 00:33:23:25 I mean, my mind's blanking out. 00:33:23:25 - 00:33:27:24 John Lasseter, because this movie was really his baby. 00:33:27:24 - 00:33:29:20 He was he's really into cars. 00:33:29:20 - 00:33:31:09 He was really into cars. 00:33:31:09 - 00:33:32:15 He wanted to do the story. 00:33:32:15 - 00:33:37:01 But he also did this similar road trip with his family 00:33:37:25 - 00:33:41:01 where he went across country and he went off the highway 00:33:41:01 - 00:33:43:17 and went to all these little towns and everything like that. 00:33:43:28 - 00:33:50:08 And that's why he made the story where, you know, 00:33:50:08 - 00:33:53:28 he wanted to celebrate the small towns of America and everything like that. 00:33:53:28 - 00:33:55:24 So that's kind of where the story came from. 00:33:55:24 - 00:33:59:23 And to me, I think that's what works so well about this movie. 00:33:59:23 - 00:34:03:08 Is this middle part here? 00:34:03:08 - 00:34:05:13 I mean, I'm not saying I don't like the finale of it, 00:34:05:13 - 00:34:08:28 but the middle part here where he is in this town 00:34:08:28 - 00:34:12:06 and we get to know all these characters in this town and he realizes 00:34:12:06 - 00:34:16:15 he goes from being this arrogant, selfish, self-centered, 00:34:17:04 - 00:34:21:10 you know, awesome race car, but not someone that you would ever want 00:34:21:10 - 00:34:26:25 to hang out with to being more of a genuine person. 00:34:26:25 - 00:34:30:16 And so I think genuine automobile. Well, 00:34:31:25 - 00:34:35:12 the car, yeah, automobile you name 00:34:36:15 - 00:34:40:10 it and you know. 00:34:40:24 - 00:34:41:25 It's from 16. 00:34:41:25 - 00:34:44:14 Candles. Oh, 00:34:44:14 - 00:34:45:08 sorry. 00:34:45:08 - 00:34:49:27 It's not from Sleepless in Seattle. 00:34:49:27 - 00:34:50:26 Where is Miles. 00:34:50:26 - 00:34:52:12 No cars. In. 00:34:52:12 - 00:34:54:24 It's so close in Seattle. 00:34:54:24 - 00:34:56:22 So anyways, you can get back to the plot. 00:34:56:22 - 00:35:00:23 But I just I just wanted to say that that where that came from in the movie 00:35:00:23 - 00:35:05:10 and how to me, how well this this part of the movie works. 00:35:05:19 - 00:35:09:19 But doesn't it bring us really nicely into talking about Radiator 00:35:09:19 - 00:35:13:25 Springs and places where Radiator Springs exists in the real world? 00:35:14:08 - 00:35:16:02 Yeah, that's. True. 00:35:16:29 - 00:35:18:17 Yeah, that's been behind me. 00:35:18:17 - 00:35:20:22 I could have taken this picture in California. 00:35:21:00 - 00:35:21:27 I swear to God. 00:35:21:27 - 00:35:23:13 I was going to say that it's exactly 00:35:23:13 - 00:35:27:07 what I was going to say, Derek, that the picture that you see behind Derek, 00:35:27:07 - 00:35:31:15 if you step in to Disney, California adventure, you turn the corner 00:35:32:02 - 00:35:35:23 kind of where the split is to go to Pixar PR, to go to Cars Land 00:35:36:01 - 00:35:38:13 and you look down the road and two cars land. 00:35:38:25 - 00:35:41:12 That is what you see right behind Derek. 00:35:41:12 - 00:35:44:12 You are immersed in the world of Radiator Springs. 00:35:44:12 - 00:35:48:02 There is no other land save, I guess. 00:35:48:28 - 00:35:52:10 Now, Galaxy's Edge, the galaxy's edge came later, 00:35:53:13 - 00:35:55:27 the first land, and is not quite as immersive, 00:35:55:27 - 00:36:00:10 I would say, as cars land, but Cars Land immerses you in Radiator Springs. 00:36:00:10 - 00:36:03:09 And so this only exists in Disney's California adventure. 00:36:03:09 - 00:36:07:03 There's three rides within California adventure. 00:36:07:03 - 00:36:13:02 You've got tow meters, I'm going to call it his cows, but it's his tractor. 00:36:13:02 - 00:36:15:19 Some it's. Tractors. Yeah, it's these tractors. 00:36:15:19 - 00:36:19:25 And it's a kind of a spinning around ride similar to alien swirling saucers 00:36:19:25 - 00:36:20:22 in Hollywood studios. 00:36:20:22 - 00:36:23:03 The same ride ride vehicles, just different theming. 00:36:23:03 - 00:36:28:18 Of course, you also have Luigi's rollicking or frolic in. 00:36:28:18 - 00:36:34:05 I can't call it roadsters, rollicking roadsters and which is a fantastic 00:36:34:22 - 00:36:38:07 also kind of kid ride where you're in this car, it's 00:36:38:07 - 00:36:41:21 a trackless vehicle and you dance around in the car. 00:36:41:21 - 00:36:45:10 Basically, the car dances to music and it's it's got a bunch of different songs. 00:36:45:10 - 00:36:47:05 My favorite being Hey Mambo. 00:36:48:11 - 00:36:51:24 And then there's know making everybody dance, right? 00:36:52:02 - 00:36:55:04 And then of course, the marquee ride in cars land, 00:36:55:04 - 00:36:59:04 which is radiator Springs Racers that Derek described a little bit ago. 00:36:59:15 - 00:37:01:11 People wait 2 hours to ride them. 00:37:01:11 - 00:37:02:26 Radiator Springs racers, if you want. 00:37:02:26 - 00:37:08:00 If you've been to Disney World, the most similar ride to it is test track. 00:37:08:00 - 00:37:11:16 It's the same basic concept ride vehicles, 00:37:11:27 - 00:37:14:20 but obviously a much more superior 00:37:14:20 - 00:37:19:03 ride in California as radio springs racers both the 00:37:19:06 - 00:37:22:07 the theming of course there's not really the same kind of 00:37:22:08 - 00:37:24:29 I mean you can't even compare the theming and, 00:37:25:07 - 00:37:28:22 and the ride is a much smoother ride and you have a race at the end 00:37:28:22 - 00:37:32:13 where you get to race another car to see who wins the Piston Cup. 00:37:32:13 - 00:37:36:10 So it's a fantastic ride, fantastic land. 00:37:36:10 - 00:37:41:15 I love it as a West Coast best coast person really. 00:37:41:15 - 00:37:46:20 Cars Land is literally my favorite land in any Disney park, anywhere 00:37:46:20 - 00:37:48:28 that I've ever been. So it's my favorite land. 00:37:48:28 - 00:37:50:23 It beats out Main Street, U.S.A. 00:37:50:23 - 00:37:51:20 It beats out everything. 00:37:51:20 - 00:37:55:23 So but I'm going to pass to my girl Kate to talk about Hollywood studios, 00:37:55:23 - 00:38:01:04 because I know that there is some kind of racing academy thingamajig at Hollywood. 00:38:01:04 - 00:38:03:14 Studio that a whole lot of fighting words. 00:38:04:13 - 00:38:05:12 She did. 00:38:05:12 - 00:38:08:04 Listen. Got to listen. Gina can. 00:38:08:04 - 00:38:11:20 Drop you off this because Gina is the producer and she's West. 00:38:11:20 - 00:38:12:20 Coast as well. 00:38:12:20 - 00:38:13:12 I can drop. 00:38:13:12 - 00:38:16:01 Hammer so. 00:38:17:12 - 00:38:19:08 Since we are talking about the parks, 00:38:19:08 - 00:38:22:26 I've only ever been to Disneyland and the Latinas know this. 00:38:23:03 - 00:38:24:16 So those are you falling along at home? 00:38:24:16 - 00:38:29:09 I've only been to Disneyland one time and the people I went with, I was so excited. 00:38:29:09 - 00:38:31:11 I was like, I'm getting a first time button. 00:38:31:18 - 00:38:36:19 I am like going all in and the people I went with were huge party poopers. 00:38:36:19 - 00:38:38:22 Made fun of me the whole time 00:38:39:22 - 00:38:40:17 thing. 00:38:40:19 - 00:38:41:13 All right. 00:38:41:15 - 00:38:44:02 I know it was awful. 00:38:44:02 - 00:38:48:04 So to be fair, I need to go back to Disneyland 00:38:48:04 - 00:38:51:05 to have a way better experience, because the experience I had 00:38:51:05 - 00:38:55:01 was like real bad because only because of the people I was with. 00:38:55:07 - 00:38:57:18 Not because of the park, not because of the cast members. 00:38:57:18 - 00:38:58:23 Everything was wonderful. 00:38:58:23 - 00:39:00:26 The people I with were so 00:39:02:10 - 00:39:03:00 and it's 00:39:03:00 - 00:39:06:03 so funny because the one thing that I wanted to experience 00:39:06:03 - 00:39:09:28 more than anything was Radiator Springs. 00:39:09:28 - 00:39:13:08 And we walked in and they were like, It's too long. 00:39:13:08 - 00:39:16:01 And then we walked out and I was like. Oh. 00:39:16:02 - 00:39:19:28 I know I am the closest thing we have to 00:39:19:28 - 00:39:23:27 that I am going to disagree with you just for 1/2, Sam, but also remember, 00:39:24:02 - 00:39:26:11 I didn't spend very much time in Radiator Springs, 00:39:26:15 - 00:39:28:25 so I guess I can't really disagree with you. 00:39:28:25 - 00:39:30:18 Toy Story Land. 00:39:30:18 - 00:39:33:20 If you pay attention to the details. 00:39:33:20 - 00:39:34:28 Oh, they've great details. 00:39:34:28 - 00:39:37:09 Yeah, very immersive. 00:39:37:09 - 00:39:42:03 If you look down, there's pitch, there's like giant footprints. 00:39:42:03 - 00:39:45:01 Well, obviously it's a giant footprint because you are a toy. 00:39:45:10 - 00:39:48:04 So if you pay attention to like the very meta 00:39:48:04 - 00:39:51:16 details, it is very, very immersive. 00:39:51:25 - 00:39:53:04 No, I can't disagree with you. 00:39:53:04 - 00:39:54:28 I think Toy Story Land was very well done. 00:39:54:28 - 00:39:57:21 But it's not the same immersion as you get in cars land, 00:39:57:21 - 00:40:01:17 because if they had made it into Andy's room, then it would be. 00:40:01:24 - 00:40:02:12 But because it's. 00:40:02:12 - 00:40:07:05 But because not a singular place like Radiator Springs is a singular place. 00:40:07:05 - 00:40:08:06 It could really be. 00:40:08:06 - 00:40:10:07 So I'm not fault this. Yeah. 00:40:10:07 - 00:40:12:01 I think the failure. 00:40:12:01 - 00:40:15:09 If there is a failure of bat or whatever you want to call 00:40:15:27 - 00:40:18:13 lands, it's the same thing which is. 00:40:19:04 - 00:40:19:17 Made up. 00:40:19:17 - 00:40:22:21 A new place that no one's ever seen in a movie. 00:40:22:21 - 00:40:25:06 Right. It's not tattooing. That's right. 00:40:26:03 - 00:40:30:21 I will say if you are a big Avatar fan 00:40:30:29 - 00:40:36:07 going into Pandora, the world of Avatar, I am not a huge Avatar fan. 00:40:36:07 - 00:40:37:20 I've seen it once. 00:40:37:20 - 00:40:40:15 I'm pretty sure I slept through the first hour, so. 00:40:41:19 - 00:40:41:22 I've. 00:40:41:22 - 00:40:42:23 Never seen it. 00:40:42:23 - 00:40:45:24 I actually I actually liked the movie and I agree with you. 00:40:45:24 - 00:40:47:14 I think that's a cool end as well. 00:40:47:14 - 00:40:52:08 It's still again, Carson to me still is the topic Thursday night one. 00:40:52:08 - 00:40:53:25 I think those are good. 00:40:53:25 - 00:40:57:06 We're going to have to have a tuna reunion at Disneyland. 00:40:57:06 - 00:41:00:18 So yeah, but it's fine. 00:41:00:18 - 00:41:02:25 That's fine. That's fine, that's fine. 00:41:03:22 - 00:41:06:00 But at Disney's Hollywood Studios, 00:41:06:00 - 00:41:09:21 there is an experience I don't actually know. 00:41:09:21 - 00:41:10:03 Hold on. 00:41:10:03 - 00:41:11:00 What is the exact name? 00:41:11:00 - 00:41:14:13 Lightning McQueen Rating Academy. 00:41:14:13 - 00:41:15:28 It's terrible. 00:41:15:28 - 00:41:19:15 I'm going to be honest with you all. 00:41:19:15 - 00:41:22:05 It's real. It's real dumb. 00:41:22:05 - 00:41:26:09 It is an easy 20 minute time kill, literally. 00:41:26:10 - 00:41:29:27 You go in, you sit on benches are not comfortable. 00:41:31:07 - 00:41:34:12 There's some screens where it's like pretend like you're driving the 00:41:34:27 - 00:41:35:29 or you're driving. 00:41:35:29 - 00:41:39:10 And then all of a sudden like this barrier drops and Lightning McQueen 00:41:39:10 - 00:41:42:10 is in front of you and he's like, Could you go to jail? 00:41:42:10 - 00:41:43:25 And that's literally it. 00:41:43:25 - 00:41:46:14 It is. It's a great time waster. 00:41:47:04 - 00:41:48:24 A couple pre-COVID. And 00:41:50:03 - 00:41:51:18 I want to say summer 00:41:51:18 - 00:41:56:04 2019, maybe 2018, 2019, they did have a show 00:41:56:26 - 00:42:00:27 where they had about five cars, dancers 00:42:02:05 - 00:42:03:24 that did some really cool. 00:42:03:24 - 00:42:05:15 I actually was a little jealous. 00:42:05:15 - 00:42:08:05 The choreography was. Dope. 00:42:08:05 - 00:42:09:05 That was cool. 00:42:09:05 - 00:42:12:02 But if you're going to world. 00:42:12:19 - 00:42:15:10 Don't waste your time unless. 00:42:15:10 - 00:42:17:23 You like, unless you are if die hard if you. 00:42:17:23 - 00:42:19:24 Get it, if you get a kid that's a big Cars fan. 00:42:19:24 - 00:42:20:12 I think if you. 00:42:20:12 - 00:42:25:23 Have a kid that is a big Cars fan, you just keep getting in line momma 00:42:25:23 - 00:42:29:18 because that's but it's right next to Tower of Terror. 00:42:29:27 - 00:42:32:00 Literal roller. Coaster character. 00:42:32:00 - 00:42:34:16 It's in between rock and rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. 00:42:34:25 - 00:42:36:29 So I saw the parking lot. 00:42:37:09 - 00:42:37:18 You had to. 00:42:37:18 - 00:42:40:06 Go past rock and roller coaster to get to it. 00:42:40:12 - 00:42:42:00 They had to go past rock, too. 00:42:42:00 - 00:42:42:16 Yeah. 00:42:42:16 - 00:42:45:06 Do you have to go down in past rock and roller coaster? 00:42:46:00 - 00:42:47:28 There is a car. 00:42:47:28 - 00:42:49:02 That's a D.J.. 00:42:49:02 - 00:42:51:23 I'll give you a hint as to what its name is. 00:42:51:23 - 00:42:54:19 It's DJ. 00:42:54:19 - 00:42:59:11 I mean, just it's real dumb, but if that's how you want to spend your time. 00:42:59:11 - 00:43:01:12 I'm so sorry to anyone I have offended now. 00:43:01:12 - 00:43:03:23 East Coast, First Coast that this is not as good 00:43:04:26 - 00:43:07:07 since I was good used to coast. 00:43:07:15 - 00:43:09:22 Yeah. Here you go. 00:43:09:22 - 00:43:11:23 So. So it's. Great. 00:43:11:23 - 00:43:14:13 This is something most people don't know, but 00:43:15:03 - 00:43:18:16 Hollywood studios almost got cars like 00:43:19:22 - 00:43:21:13 literally within weeks. 00:43:21:13 - 00:43:23:23 I did not know of. It being announced. 00:43:23:23 - 00:43:26:09 Within weeks of it being announced, they 00:43:27:02 - 00:43:30:15 that was when Lucasfilm 00:43:30:18 - 00:43:32:18 bought or when they bought Lucasfilm. 00:43:32:18 - 00:43:35:00 And they basically were like, 00:43:35:11 - 00:43:39:10 if maybe we want to do this Star Wars thing, I don't know. 00:43:39:23 - 00:43:42:11 Do you. Think Alex's Edge first or did. 00:43:42:24 - 00:43:44:24 It was the same basically the same time, but 00:43:45:11 - 00:43:48:16 it was, I think land open before world. 00:43:48:16 - 00:43:50:10 But like they were the same month. 00:43:50:10 - 00:43:52:15 Yeah, it was the same month. It was. Very close. 00:43:52:15 - 00:43:53:22 Yeah. Okay. 00:43:53:22 - 00:43:59:08 Yeah but, but yeah they, they were, they were going to clone star cars land 00:43:59:08 - 00:44:02:29 and put it in cut and put it I guess where Star Wars land is. 00:44:03:11 - 00:44:05:03 But yeah that ended 00:44:05:03 - 00:44:09:02 up, that ended up being shelved when they decided to do Star Wars land. 00:44:09:02 - 00:44:11:21 So yeah. Star Wars probably makes them more money. 00:44:11:21 - 00:44:13:28 So yeah, probably, maybe. 00:44:13:28 - 00:44:16:12 I don't know. If it. Attracts more adults. 00:44:16:19 - 00:44:20:08 I would, I would say it attracts it probably 00:44:20:26 - 00:44:23:16 attracts people, sells them more merchandise. 00:44:23:16 - 00:44:24:20 Yeah. Yeah. 00:44:24:20 - 00:44:26:27 Well and it and it's, it's more timely 00:44:26:27 - 00:44:30:01 because they're making more Star Wars movies. 00:44:30:01 - 00:44:30:10 Right. 00:44:30:10 - 00:44:34:08 Whereas cars like we've had three movies and yes, they're doing these shorts, 00:44:34:08 - 00:44:37:16 but like, I don't know that another movie is on the horizon. 00:44:37:29 - 00:44:38:25 Yeah, I wouldn't. 00:44:38:25 - 00:44:43:08 And they wouldn't be able to sell $200 bumper sticker lightsabers. 00:44:43:08 - 00:44:44:15 Right, like that. Yeah. 00:44:44:15 - 00:44:44:28 Yeah. 00:44:44:28 - 00:44:46:28 What's was planes. 00:44:47:09 - 00:44:49:28 A branch off of cars. Yes, yes, yes. 00:44:50:00 - 00:44:51:10 But a well and a. 00:44:51:10 - 00:44:53:17 Terrible branch off of cars. Yeah. 00:44:54:07 - 00:44:54:20 I just. 00:44:54:20 - 00:44:57:01 I thought so. And planes too. 00:44:57:01 - 00:44:58:01 Was even for good 00:44:59:04 - 00:44:59:27 seats. 00:45:00:01 - 00:45:02:00 Yet. That's for. You. 00:45:02:00 - 00:45:02:22 I will say. 00:45:02:22 - 00:45:05:06 Let's go back to the actual movie. 00:45:05:09 - 00:45:06:29 Why was it there used to be a tie in? 00:45:06:29 - 00:45:09:12 Because before 00:45:09:27 - 00:45:12:02 Galaxy's Edge, that is the area that used to be 00:45:12:02 - 00:45:14:16 the Light's motor action stunt show. 00:45:15:23 - 00:45:18:21 And at the end, within Dad's 00:45:18:25 - 00:45:23:13 Lightning McQueen would show up and would talk to the audience. 00:45:23:13 - 00:45:25:08 So I did a. 00:45:25:08 - 00:45:27:18 Little backstage tidbit for you all. 00:45:27:28 - 00:45:29:13 A lot. Not a lot. 00:45:29:13 - 00:45:34:02 Some of the stunt performers who did lights motors action 00:45:34:11 - 00:45:39:19 would then come over to Fantastic and get overtime. 00:45:39:29 - 00:45:42:19 Being our stunt performers in Fantastic. 00:45:42:19 - 00:45:45:12 So I got to know a whole bunch of the guys. 00:45:46:07 - 00:45:48:12 And since we're giving all the TI right now 00:45:49:00 - 00:45:51:26 when lights is actually in close to 00:45:52:21 - 00:45:56:22 there was the smoke in front of the show like there was like a moat thing. 00:45:57:18 - 00:45:59:29 On its closing day, a whole bunch of cast members 00:45:59:29 - 00:46:03:19 jumped into that moat and took their kids with them. 00:46:04:05 - 00:46:06:24 And that's like super, super against the rules. 00:46:07:03 - 00:46:11:24 And not only did a lot of them lose their jobs, but that used to be a ritual. 00:46:11:24 - 00:46:14:19 When it was your last show, it fantastic that you would jump in the moat 00:46:14:19 - 00:46:16:16 and then we couldn't do that anymore. 00:46:16:16 - 00:46:18:28 We weren't bitter. It's fine. Yeah. 00:46:19:27 - 00:46:21:05 I love lights, runners. 00:46:21:05 - 00:46:23:05 Action. Loved that show. 00:46:23:06 - 00:46:25:14 Loved lights and was action so good. 00:46:25:14 - 00:46:29:04 So I kind of like seeing her be more than Lightning McQueen, though. 00:46:29:21 - 00:46:31:08 That's where. Yeah. 00:46:31:08 - 00:46:33:25 Yeah. So back to the movie. 00:46:33:25 - 00:46:37:00 Lightning is found in Radiator Springs, 00:46:37:17 - 00:46:40:10 gets taken to 00:46:40:10 - 00:46:42:23 Los Angeles and they have their big last race. 00:46:43:23 - 00:46:45:27 It's going along. Spoiler alert. 00:46:46:10 - 00:46:46:28 Yeah. 00:46:46:28 - 00:46:49:16 Yeah. Have you ever. 00:46:49:16 - 00:46:50:04 Seen this. 00:46:50:22 - 00:46:52:12 One for you? 00:46:52:12 - 00:46:54:14 I'm just messing with you. 00:46:54:14 - 00:47:00:04 Going along and you see, you know, lightning gets bumped into the grass. 00:47:00:04 - 00:47:02:27 So he has to do the turn right to do left maneuver. 00:47:03:27 - 00:47:06:07 He's going to win by a long way, as. 00:47:06:07 - 00:47:08:04 Well as his friends show up. 00:47:08:04 - 00:47:09:20 His Friends show up. Earlier. 00:47:09:20 - 00:47:12:04 Who and B has become this pit crew. 00:47:12:19 - 00:47:13:09 Yeah. 00:47:13:11 - 00:47:15:27 Including Guido, who does an amazing pit stop. 00:47:16:15 - 00:47:17:21 Pit stop. 00:47:18:00 - 00:47:19:07 Stop. 00:47:19:07 - 00:47:21:19 And Doc becomes his 00:47:22:20 - 00:47:24:22 crew chief, which he has said he doesn't need while 00:47:24:22 - 00:47:28:02 he has all his friends there and they end up doing it for him. 00:47:28:02 - 00:47:32:01 Last lap lightning's going to win by a long way 00:47:32:09 - 00:47:36:08 and Schick ends up wrecking the king, which if you see the wreck in that, 00:47:36:08 - 00:47:40:12 that is actually a wreck that Richard Petty did go through him 00:47:40:12 - 00:47:43:15 going up and spinning basically on his nose and tumbling a lot. 00:47:44:05 - 00:47:47:09 That is actually a century frame for frame, a wreck 00:47:47:09 - 00:47:49:11 that Richard Petty actually had. 00:47:49:16 - 00:47:51:18 In his know. That. Why do you know that. 00:47:52:25 - 00:47:54:23 Was. Me as a car guy. 00:47:54:23 - 00:47:56:22 Welcome to something. I'm not really a car guy. 00:47:56:22 - 00:48:00:14 Just welcome to the world of Derrick's useless knowledge. 00:48:00:14 - 00:48:01:05 Sure. 00:48:02:01 - 00:48:04:23 So lightning stops on the track 00:48:06:01 - 00:48:06:28 right before the start. 00:48:06:28 - 00:48:08:01 Finish line. 00:48:08:01 - 00:48:12:01 Let's kick when goes and pushes the king 00:48:12:01 - 00:48:16:08 across the line, showing that he has grown. 00:48:16:15 - 00:48:19:16 He understands because Doc never got to finish his last race. 00:48:19:16 - 00:48:22:14 So he thought the Kings should be able to finish his. Last race. 00:48:22:14 - 00:48:23:15 Without winning. 00:48:23:15 - 00:48:25:20 It's not all. About it's about. Friendship. 00:48:26:10 - 00:48:26:19 Yeah. 00:48:26:19 - 00:48:31:14 And shit goes no one is happy with chick with the fact that he won 00:48:32:01 - 00:48:36:17 lightning gets offered the DiNozzo deal and turns it down 00:48:36:18 - 00:48:39:11 because the rust these guys are the ones that gave him his big break 00:48:39:18 - 00:48:44:24 he decides to stick with the AMA, but he still does get Maynard the whole time. 00:48:44:24 - 00:48:49:05 He'd been hoping for a ride in a helicopter. 00:48:49:05 - 00:48:53:24 And one of the last things you see is him going off in the D'Amico helicopter, 00:48:53:24 - 00:48:57:20 because lightning arranged for it to happen because he's his friend. 00:48:58:05 - 00:49:01:08 And then you literally see Lightning 00:49:01:08 - 00:49:04:14 and Sally driving off into the sunset together. 00:49:05:22 - 00:49:07:07 So it's a great ending. 00:49:07:07 - 00:49:10:23 And then the end credits scene, which to me is 00:49:10:23 - 00:49:13:03 one of the original end credits scenes, is. 00:49:13:03 - 00:49:15:14 Where. Marvel ever did it. Yes. 00:49:15:19 - 00:49:15:25 Yeah. 00:49:15:25 - 00:49:17:08 Marvel didn't. 00:49:17:08 - 00:49:19:07 Start this. 00:49:19:07 - 00:49:21:15 Carter steal it did. 00:49:21:19 - 00:49:23:01 And crew. 00:49:23:01 - 00:49:27:08 It's car themed remakes of all the Pixar movies. 00:49:28:04 - 00:49:30:04 With the voice. Talents. 00:49:30:04 - 00:49:32:25 They you know it's Tom Hanks don't you are a. Car. 00:49:32:28 - 00:49:35:15 Toy. Car. 00:49:35:15 - 00:49:37:22 Ranger a little bug and you have my pity. It's 00:49:38:25 - 00:49:41:01 so. Funny It's. Such so. Well done. 00:49:41:01 - 00:49:45:02 And then at the end it's John Ratzenberger going, Hey, wait a minute, 00:49:45:02 - 00:49:47:11 they're using the same voices and all these movie. 00:49:47:19 - 00:49:50:03 Now he's. The one that he recognized. 00:49:50:03 - 00:49:51:06 All the voice is green. 00:49:51:06 - 00:49:52:27 It is Hamm he's doing. 00:49:52:27 - 00:49:55:00 Yeah, he's it's hilarious. Yeah. 00:49:55:07 - 00:49:57:20 Now we do have to talk about the elephant in the room. 00:49:58:10 - 00:50:00:28 Guys, this is such a knock off of Doc Hollywood. 00:50:01:07 - 00:50:04:05 I know, but who cares? Who cares? 00:50:04:06 - 00:50:07:15 But to me, that does make a difference, because Doc Hollywood, 00:50:07:15 - 00:50:11:13 a guy from the big city, goes to Michael J. Fox. 00:50:11:13 - 00:50:13:02 It's Michael J. Facts. Yeah. 00:50:13:02 - 00:50:15:02 He goes to a small town. 00:50:15:02 - 00:50:17:19 He destroys Doc's property. 00:50:17:19 - 00:50:19:05 It ends up being his fence. 00:50:19:05 - 00:50:21:06 He ends up having to stay there to fix it. 00:50:21:06 - 00:50:22:16 He ends up falling for someone 00:50:22:16 - 00:50:26:11 he goes back to the big city, realizes it's not for him and it goes back to. 00:50:26:11 - 00:50:28:22 This small, small town. Doctor. He loves. 00:50:29:00 - 00:50:30:01 Yeah. So 00:50:31:02 - 00:50:32:20 my question then, 00:50:32:20 - 00:50:37:24 Kate, I'm going to throw this one to you, not did you like the movie? 00:50:38:03 - 00:50:40:29 Does the movie hold up after six years? 00:50:41:09 - 00:50:42:00 All right. 00:50:42:00 - 00:50:43:01 I'm going to throw myself 00:50:43:01 - 00:50:46:03 under the bus on this and say, I don't know what Doc Hollywood is. 00:50:46:19 - 00:50:47:10 Yeah, 00:50:48:03 - 00:50:49:14 and I hey, listen. 00:50:49:14 - 00:50:51:05 I don't do that very often. 00:50:51:05 - 00:50:54:01 Not very often do I say, I don't know what you are talking about. 00:50:54:10 - 00:50:57:01 That was that a it. Was a movie. 00:50:57:01 - 00:50:58:21 Movie. It's a. Movie. 00:50:58:21 - 00:51:00:00 It's a michael J. Fox. 00:51:00:00 - 00:51:02:17 Michael J eighties. 00:51:02:17 - 00:51:04:25 Fox pre or post. 00:51:05:06 - 00:51:06:25 Post post. 00:51:06:25 - 00:51:09:18 Okay, ladies, back to the future. 00:51:09:25 - 00:51:11:14 I feel like have you seen. 00:51:11:14 - 00:51:12:19 Rid of my sickness? 00:51:12:19 - 00:51:14:02 It's around the same time as that movie. 00:51:14:02 - 00:51:16:13 I've tried so. 00:51:16:13 - 00:51:20:10 All right, I've put a lot of thought into this particular question. 00:51:21:12 - 00:51:22:10 Yeah, sure. 00:51:22:10 - 00:51:23:29 It holds up it. 00:51:23:29 - 00:51:26:08 Yeah, it holds up. 00:51:27:29 - 00:51:30:05 I don't 00:51:31:06 - 00:51:32:06 if I'm scrolling 00:51:32:06 - 00:51:35:10 through, which I don't, I pretty much stream everything now. 00:51:35:10 - 00:51:38:12 But if I was scrolling through channels and I saw 00:51:38:12 - 00:51:41:05 that cars was on, I wouldn't stop and watch it. 00:51:42:02 - 00:51:46:09 If I saw that Toy Story was on, I would stop and watch it. 00:51:46:29 - 00:51:51:04 It's kind of like my my mom and I have actually had this talk. 00:51:51:04 - 00:51:55:11 If I'm ever scrolling through channels and Apollo 13, the movie Apollo 13 is on, 00:51:55:26 - 00:51:58:22 you stop and watch it because you have to make sure that they make it home 00:51:59:09 - 00:52:00:22 like wherever it is. 00:52:00:22 - 00:52:03:15 In movie, you stop what you're doing and you watch it. 00:52:03:15 - 00:52:07:11 Sleepless in Seattle, you got to make sure that they they meet up in the end. 00:52:07:11 - 00:52:10:07 Hello. But cast. 00:52:11:23 - 00:52:14:27 I would put it in the top 00:52:14:27 - 00:52:18:29 five Pixar movies, but this isn't a movie 00:52:20:10 - 00:52:23:05 like I had to like I had to talk myself 00:52:23:05 - 00:52:26:14 into watching this for for the vault this week. 00:52:26:18 - 00:52:30:20 It was it's not a movie that I'm like abso freaking lutely. 00:52:30:20 - 00:52:33:09 Let's sit down and watch this right now. 00:52:33:20 - 00:52:38:18 So does it hold up better than the sandlot? 00:52:38:18 - 00:52:40:26 Sure. And I gave a lot of five. 00:52:40:26 - 00:52:44:12 But there's parts in the sandlot that are like 00:52:44:12 - 00:52:47:24 but there isn't a part in this movie that makes me go. 00:52:47:24 - 00:52:50:05 But is it 00:52:50:05 - 00:52:54:08 something that I will choose to watch when I just want to laugh and feel good? 00:52:54:08 - 00:52:55:19 Probably not. 00:52:56:10 - 00:52:58:14 Does that answer that question does. 00:53:00:22 - 00:53:01:20 I think 00:53:01:20 - 00:53:04:24 I do agree to the question of does the movie hold up? 00:53:04:24 - 00:53:05:24 I think it does. 00:53:07:13 - 00:53:09:25 The Cars franchise as a whole, 00:53:10:26 - 00:53:14:14 in my opinion, is not particularly quality. 00:53:15:16 - 00:53:20:18 I think once you get past this movie, the other Cars movies are okay 00:53:20:18 - 00:53:22:24 but not great. 00:53:22:24 - 00:53:27:18 Obviously we talk about the Planes movies and those are pretty, 00:53:27:18 - 00:53:31:02 pretty close to awful. 00:53:31:02 - 00:53:32:25 I actually haven't seen the second Planes movie, 00:53:32:25 - 00:53:34:24 so I shouldn't I shouldn't slag on it. 00:53:34:24 - 00:53:38:18 But the first one was was was literally, you know, you talk about a remake. 00:53:38:18 - 00:53:41:05 It was literally a remake of this movie, this movie. 00:53:42:17 - 00:53:44:03 And so, yeah. 00:53:44:03 - 00:53:45:14 This movie. Right. 00:53:45:14 - 00:53:47:08 Was afraid of racing. 00:53:47:08 - 00:53:48:05 Right, right. 00:53:48:05 - 00:53:49:17 Yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:53:49:17 - 00:53:53:23 But I do, I do like some of the shorts that they've done. 00:53:53:23 - 00:53:56:16 The major shorts are pretty funny. 00:53:56:16 - 00:53:59:23 And again the, the, the area in Hollywood studios. 00:53:59:23 - 00:54:06:08 But this to me, this franchise in general rapidly degraded to a may. 00:54:06:08 - 00:54:09:27 Their main purpose is to selling toys. 00:54:09:27 - 00:54:14:14 But with this movie, I do genuinely think there was a lot of heart and a lot of, 00:54:15:24 - 00:54:18:05 you know. A. 00:54:18:20 - 00:54:20:16 Lot of talent behind it. 00:54:20:16 - 00:54:22:12 And so I really do think this holds up. 00:54:22:12 - 00:54:23:14 I still think it's great 00:54:23:14 - 00:54:27:09 to watch as an adult, and I think it's especially great for for kids. 00:54:27:09 - 00:54:30:03 So yep. Still holds up. Yeah. 00:54:30:14 - 00:54:33:29 So I'm going to tell Pete as a lawyer 00:54:34:05 - 00:54:39:23 answer only the question you were asked. 00:54:39:23 - 00:54:42:11 If I was representing him in a deposition, that's what I would tell him. 00:54:42:15 - 00:54:43:21 I'm a podcaster. 00:54:43:21 - 00:54:45:29 I never answered the question I was asked. 00:54:45:29 - 00:54:47:03 Fair enough. 00:54:47:03 - 00:54:51:22 So I'm going to say the question, does the movie hold up is a resounding yes. 00:54:51:22 - 00:54:54:20 Absolutely. This is a fantastic movie. 00:54:55:14 - 00:54:59:27 I, I obviously like it more than Kate liked it. 00:55:00:28 - 00:55:03:18 I will because I will stop and watch this if. 00:55:03:18 - 00:55:04:17 It's on the this. 00:55:04:17 - 00:55:08:14 Is one of those movies I also love whenever I hear 00:55:08:14 - 00:55:13:17 life is a highway the the remake the one from this movie version. Yes. 00:55:13:24 - 00:55:17:29 If it comes on in the car, I swear to God, you guys, I am rockin out 00:55:17:29 - 00:55:19:24 and singing along to the theme again. 00:55:19:24 - 00:55:22:18 Sam, you and I also grew up with the original. True. 00:55:22:18 - 00:55:24:04 We did. We absolutely did. 00:55:24:04 - 00:55:26:28 So this so I will say that this 00:55:27:11 - 00:55:29:23 this movie came out in 2006. 00:55:30:04 - 00:55:32:24 My son was born in 2013 00:55:33:07 - 00:55:37:05 and he did not obviously see this in the movie theater. 00:55:37:05 - 00:55:40:26 He saw it for the first time, you know, on television. 00:55:41:22 - 00:55:44:20 And he was obsessed with this movie. 00:55:44:21 - 00:55:50:23 I would say, from like, I don't know, 2014, 2015, 2016, 00:55:50:23 - 00:55:53:18 like for several years because it was so good. 00:55:53:23 - 00:55:58:07 And the first movie that he saw in a movie theater was Cars three, actually. 00:55:58:07 - 00:56:00:11 So no, after Cars two. 00:56:00:11 - 00:56:02:05 Yeah, those Cars three was his first. 00:56:02:05 - 00:56:02:14 It was 00:56:02:14 - 00:56:05:18 I think he was like three or four when we took him to I think probably four 00:56:05:18 - 00:56:08:01 when we took him to his first movie in the theater. It's so. Funny. 00:56:08:01 - 00:56:10:25 The first movie I saw in theaters was The Sandlot. You're well, 00:56:12:06 - 00:56:12:25 there you go. 00:56:12:25 - 00:56:14:20 Oh, you're going. To see Sleepless in Seattle. 00:56:14:20 - 00:56:15:17 And and. 00:56:15:17 - 00:56:19:19 While while cars three and is certainly no cars one 00:56:20:03 - 00:56:23:18 and cars two wasn't even a cars three let me put it that. Way. 00:56:24:29 - 00:56:27:11 Cars is a fantastic movie. 00:56:27:11 - 00:56:30:29 I will watch it again and again. I adore it. 00:56:30:29 - 00:56:35:12 I as we talked about the voice actors are fantastic. 00:56:35:12 - 00:56:37:25 The one liners are hilarious. 00:56:38:14 - 00:56:39:10 It holds up. 00:56:39:10 - 00:56:43:15 It doesn't have any of the, you know, sexism and sexual 00:56:43:15 - 00:56:46:24 assault type issues that are present in the same market. 00:56:47:23 - 00:56:50:28 So, you know, this is this is a movie that I think 00:56:50:28 - 00:56:54:29 can also withstand the test of time, at least maybe the modern times. 00:56:55:08 - 00:56:57:17 So I think it's a great movie. 00:56:57:17 - 00:57:01:18 And to answer the question yes, resounding yes. 00:57:01:22 - 00:57:04:07 Derek Yeah, it holds up. 00:57:04:07 - 00:57:05:17 I mean, it's 00:57:06:23 - 00:57:07:05 there is 00:57:07:05 - 00:57:11:10 nothing to be upset about in this movie. 00:57:11:10 - 00:57:14:03 Realistically. 00:57:14:03 - 00:57:16:03 And to me, that's what makes the movie hold up. 00:57:16:03 - 00:57:19:02 I have literally probably seen this movie a thousand times. 00:57:19:18 - 00:57:20:27 Seriously? 00:57:20:27 - 00:57:22:06 Yes, seriously. 00:57:22:06 - 00:57:23:14 My son. 00:57:23:14 - 00:57:24:06 Sam, for. 00:57:24:06 - 00:57:27:17 A period of years, this was on at least once a day. 00:57:27:27 - 00:57:29:29 Same. That's it. 00:57:29:29 - 00:57:34:28 And this is and this is years apart, you guys, because Derek, older than my son. 00:57:34:29 - 00:57:35:15 Oh point. 00:57:35:15 - 00:57:37:03 Three three. Yeah. 00:57:37:03 - 00:57:38:04 And I'm going to tell you something. 00:57:38:04 - 00:57:40:12 My daughter, who is 19 years old, 00:57:40:12 - 00:57:44:12 who also did not see this in the theater, did go through a period 00:57:44:12 - 00:57:46:28 where she watched this movie and we had cars, toys, too. 00:57:46:28 - 00:57:49:06 She went, You got a period of time, which we watched this movie. 00:57:49:13 - 00:57:53:13 So I've probably seen it a hundred times, maybe, but she didn't go 00:57:53:13 - 00:57:54:02 probably quite 00:57:54:02 - 00:57:58:00 as long as she would go through phases with with the different movies. 00:57:58:00 - 00:57:59:08 But like, you know. 00:57:59:08 - 00:58:01:27 But that tells you like as far as the different ages too, 00:58:01:27 - 00:58:04:17 like how it has held up, you know, over time. 00:58:04:17 - 00:58:09:03 Because you're talking about Pete's 19 year old, you're talking about Derek. 00:58:09:03 - 00:58:10:08 How old is your 17? 00:58:10:08 - 00:58:12:09 40? Yeah, 14. And my son is eight. 00:58:12:10 - 00:58:16:13 So, like, that's a big range of kids who went through this movie. 00:58:16:22 - 00:58:18:15 Okay, but hold on. Hold on. 00:58:18:15 - 00:58:22:09 Because I'm 34, 34. 00:58:23:06 - 00:58:25:11 When Finding Nemo came out, 00:58:26:05 - 00:58:29:02 I watched that movie Rip. 00:58:29:02 - 00:58:31:11 I mean, I watched it every day. 00:58:31:11 - 00:58:33:00 And and I want to say that came out 00:58:33:00 - 00:58:36:24 when I was in high school when Lilo Stitch that's not Pixar. 00:58:37:00 - 00:58:39:13 But when Lilo Stitch came out, I watched that movie. 00:58:39:13 - 00:58:45:00 I was obsessed with Stitch is that was cars maybe just not my. 00:58:45:09 - 00:58:47:14 You were too old to be perfectly honest. 00:58:47:28 - 00:58:50:07 With you all that they were yeah. 00:58:50:07 - 00:58:51:27 You were 12 I'd say. 00:58:51:27 - 00:58:55:01 Because Toy Story came out in 95. 00:58:55:01 - 00:58:57:04 So I was eight when Toy Story came out. 00:58:57:12 - 00:59:02:23 But I also remember with Toy Story, you had to watch it on VHS. 00:59:03:08 - 00:59:05:20 We didn't even have DVDs at that point. 00:59:05:20 - 00:59:06:22 Really? 00:59:06:22 - 00:59:07:12 Let me rephrase. 00:59:07:12 - 00:59:10:25 Yeah, my family did not have DVD right. 00:59:10:25 - 00:59:13:29 But my daughter, my ma daughter went through Nemo also. 00:59:13:29 - 00:59:18:01 She was she was born the week before Nemo was released. 00:59:18:01 - 00:59:21:02 Was that that was the first movie my wife and I saw 00:59:21:28 - 00:59:23:26 after she was born in the theaters. 00:59:23:26 - 00:59:24:19 So she was. 00:59:24:19 - 00:59:26:21 A big animation person, too, right? 00:59:27:11 - 00:59:28:12 Well, she's. 00:59:28:12 - 00:59:29:01 She is. Now. 00:59:29:01 - 00:59:31:09 I don't think she knew she was going to be, but. Right. 00:59:31:20 - 00:59:34:10 So she went she went through you know, 00:59:34:10 - 00:59:37:17 we saw we saw Nemo four or 500 times probably. 00:59:38:10 - 00:59:41:15 So I can I can list the movies that she got into at one point or another. 00:59:41:15 - 00:59:42:25 But Cars was one of them. 00:59:42:25 - 00:59:45:03 And it is definitely 00:59:46:01 - 00:59:49:05 a boy leaning movie because, again, Cars 00:59:49:08 - 00:59:53:28 and trucks and all those things tend to be more popular with boys. 00:59:53:28 - 00:59:55:23 I mean, they they just are. 00:59:55:23 - 00:59:59:29 But it just happened that, you know, my daughter enjoyed the movie, too. 00:59:59:29 - 01:00:03:22 And we had I mean, we didn't have all the cars toys, 01:00:03:22 - 01:00:05:23 but we had a Lightning McQueen. 01:00:05:23 - 01:00:08:02 They had a figure eight waist race track. 01:00:08:02 - 01:00:11:03 And we had the Mack truck where the thing folded open 01:00:11:03 - 01:00:13:25 and had all the left side of it. Yeah, yeah. 01:00:14:01 - 01:00:16:28 So we had a cut, we had a couple of cars things and you know. 01:00:16:28 - 01:00:19:26 She would feel. A little bit knowing that. 01:00:20:09 - 01:00:21:21 And that. 01:00:21:21 - 01:00:24:29 Yeah, it's also one of those like my mom used to run a home daycare 01:00:25:08 - 01:00:26:09 at that period of time. 01:00:26:09 - 01:00:27:27 It was The Little Mermaid 01:00:27:27 - 01:00:32:05 there was they would show kids would watch a Little Mermaid every day. 01:00:32:12 - 01:00:37:24 So I think it's a Disney thing of overall Disney movies connect 01:00:37:24 - 01:00:42:04 so deeply that kids just want to immerse themselves in them. 01:00:42:13 - 01:00:43:19 Yeah. Yeah. 01:00:43:19 - 01:00:46:04 But but that's always kind of my judgment is 01:00:46:26 - 01:00:50:03 especially, you know, with a lot of these older movies is like 01:00:50:03 - 01:00:53:05 my daughter would get into them and watch them repeatedly. 01:00:54:08 - 01:00:55:05 And that really 01:00:55:05 - 01:00:59:12 told me the quality of a movie because like when she watched Attack of the Clones 01:00:59:12 - 01:01:02:23 over and over again, I realized how awful that movie is. 01:01:03:05 - 01:01:06:20 And this was this was a movie that was like, wow, this movie is actually 01:01:06:20 - 01:01:11:01 really good because I can stand watching it over and over and go. 01:01:11:17 - 01:01:15:03 Okay, as we always do when we watch a movie, some series 01:01:15:03 - 01:01:18:17 like this, we give it cups of pixie dust 01:01:18:17 - 01:01:21:08 and a five cate 01:01:21:29 - 01:01:22:21 three. 01:01:22:29 - 01:01:23:14 Okay? 01:01:24:18 - 01:01:26:10 I mean, give it for 01:01:27:23 - 01:01:29:01 four. 01:01:30:04 - 01:01:33:05 And guys, I'm going to give it a rare five for me. 01:01:33:14 - 01:01:34:18 What? 01:01:35:03 - 01:01:36:17 I love that, Derek. 01:01:36:17 - 01:01:39:20 I loved was. With the five for me. Yes. 01:01:40:04 - 01:01:42:16 I mean, to be able to not go crazy, 01:01:42:29 - 01:01:46:21 to be able to say no, son, we're going to watch something else but be okay. 01:01:46:21 - 01:01:47:28 It's cars. Fine. 01:01:48:29 - 01:01:51:07 You know, watch it thousands of times. 01:01:51:07 - 01:01:52:06 Is it the best? 01:01:52:06 - 01:01:54:10 Is that the best one I'm giving a five to now, 01:01:55:16 - 01:01:57:23 but it is a five for me.
